I'm actually not quite sure , (I'm not saying Kobe and Japeth won't be better players if they had better mindset or higher IQ ( remember Toro comments if only Japs had Tiu's brain). , the reason I m not sure ( is I've seen how hard it is to make the NBA) and both Kobe and Japeth in real all around athletes are not actually NBA material, additionally their skill level is really Low , (not at par with even journey men imports). It's really a different level.
Take example Lebron Lopez, for Philippine standards he's considered as having decent skills for his height, but outside of Asia , his skill is fundamentally flawed ( he can't shoot or dribble for international wing standards at 6'5 , it's really flawed )

Your point is correct , it's really hard work to develop skill and craft that differentiates if a player can make advance levels ( FIBA worlds or borderline NBA), as relying on athletic ability is really no differentiator as Americans, Europeans and Africans are equally if not even more athletic

I think with the usual non-availability of PBA combo forwards like Malonzo, Oftana, Arvin Tolentino in most qualifying windows & FIBA tournament (like the FIBA Asia Cup), there's a good chance Kobe Paras would wear Gilas jersey again.

That would be a welcome development, I think Kobe still has something to offer w/Gilas and just needs someone like Tab to reinvent his game (something of a Balti like role)

If Kobe’s current physique is any indication, I think his passion for the game is gone. Laro-laro na lang. He’s obviously not pumping iron, or doing so at the bare minimum. Idk, but if I am the Gilas coach I’d definitely consider his physical state a red flag. This is coming from someone who used to peg him as THE Gilas small forward for the coming years.

I thought he actually had better stats. 7ppg/15 mins in B League div2 is a disappointment (at least for me) considering the promise he has shown when he was in the US playing HS hoops. There is a silver lining thankfully, and that is he’s hitting his 3’s in a very good 39% clip.

He had 2 good games in December and people thought those were his season average.. I dunno if it's a bad or good thing but he seems more interested in hoisting up 3 point shots than finishing inside hence the abysmal fg% but he has good 3 point percentage.

As somebody here commented he looked like he's not been working out. As someone who watches parts of his games before switching off he looks disinterested in most of them like it's just cardio for him. He looks done with basketball.
