2 games ago when Kai played 4 mins, coached benched him right after PNR bad coverage.
Last night Kai just played 2 min in 2nd half as Thomas repeatedly scored on Kai at the post
Right after going undrafted, Kai was working on his lateralls in a football field as a result of the negative defensive foot work feedback resulting in being undrafted and not even invited.

This blatantly obvious, it's what the decision makers that matter think. What everyone else thinks is irrelevant
Well, from where I look at it's obvious that this will be the last coaching season of CJ lol

Longer PT means more time to show his wares. Kai is not a superstar, you cannot ask him to just "turn it on" especially if his minutes are sporadic and limited. I've complained about this before, that the expectations some of you have for Kai is virtually impossible. You all want Kai to be consistent, but are also in favor of CJ not giving him playing time. Something has to give, you can't bake your cake and eat it too. Either we bank on Kai being consistent by giving him more playing time since consistency comes with experience, or we support CJ by limiting his playing time therefore not achieving consistency since he's not getting experience sitting on the bench.

Steph outrebounding dwight (0:38) is a great example on how effort (positioning) and technique (using your body) thwarts physical stats (That's why we see kai who's 7'2 - 7'3 get outrebounded by 6'9 centers)..

imagine if Kai is able to do what Steph did in a consistent basis, he would be a rebounding machine and imo will definitely get more PT
Imagine if Steph did it in a consistent basis. Heck imagine if all point guards did it in a consistent basis. Scottie Thompson and Mitch Mccaron would be out of a job. Let's not fool ourselves, proper rebounding technique can only be consistent if the rebounder is filled out. What Steph did was an outlier and not representative of what most PGs do.

As for Klay, he was flat footed but he had inside position regardless. If TT had virtually the same physical statistics as Klay then Klay would still get the rebound there. But he didn't, and Klay knew that, which is why he pushed TT who still got the rebound by an outstretched arm. Technique can only get you so far if you don't have the body to match it. Or else just from watching a few YT vids watching karate videos and practicing at home, I'll be a blackbelter.

I agree, his is not a superstar, that's why he needs to EARN his minutes. How can a non superstar player earn his minutes? By showing his wares on the limited minutes that he is given (7 - 15 minutes in Kai's situation). That is actually very attainable and is not impossible, all players go through a phase in their career where they have to EARN their playing spot and Kai is not an exception.

True you're validating my point - not all PG's do what Scottie Thompson and Mitch Mccaron do, but when they do it they are successful. (BTW Mccaron had 13 rebounds his last game).

Kai is not doing it consistently, if he does that within the 7 - 15 minutes playing time he is given he will earn CJ's confidence and imo will be given more PT. This is not an impossible thing to do and is actually attainable given the limited time Kai is given (stamina won't be an issue). We're not asking the impossible with Kai, he is a natural center and not a PG, that's what's expected of him.

I disagree, if you watch timestamp (1:07) he lost the positiion to TT because he was flat footed and was "boxing out" using his 1 arm, he tried to recover by pushing and he was called for a foul.. it's all in the video, you can see VC outrebounding Bogut (0:32), another good example of using effort (position) and technique (body) to offset physical stat (bigger heftier, stronger)

              • If there is a Japan offer, dont be surprised if K. Quiambao takes it. Apparently he has family there (including the mom).

If you are a contending team, you don't just insert in the playoffs a young player who was sidelined for almost a year. He was relegated to the GLeague on November 15 when their record was 6-8. When he was not in the line up they went 7-4. He was relegated because he's not performing well to the minutes given to him. Looks lost on defence most of the time and is fouling 6 times per 36 min. Wiseman's development has been hindered by injuries, covid and a ban in the ncaa. GSW is mediocre not because of their small ball but because their bench sucks. Porter>>>JGreen, Payton>DVD, Belli>>>PBJ, DLee>>Rollins.

                    • Wiseman was recalled last game because Green, Wiggins & Steph were out due to injuries.
And now he's back in Santa Cruz for more reps:

24 pts 10 rebs 2 stls 4 tos 9/10 fg in 27 min vs the South Bay Lakers

Then what is the fuzz with Kai's limited role in an ambitious team like ADL and a small ball-leaning coach? Is it not the same with Wiseman who is given limited role?

Take note wiseman is more than a year older than Kai. Born: March 31, 2001 (age 21 years). Wiseman was also 9 months healthy. GSW just doesn't know how to use Wiseman.
