  • I say, why not Kai do it more often during back-to-the-basket plays?

At Adelaide, Kai won't have much opportunities of back-to-the-basket plays, but with Gilas, I think he has that enough opportunities.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Anyway, I am glad Kai got 17 mins tonight. Though, I would have hoped he is given a chance in the 4th

I saw Kai doing post up and skyhook but was ineffective since physically he was still easily pushed and the defender easily took his

space and his balance when Kai attempted the Skyhook.

This new version of Kai's skyhook off the dribble penetration is more effective since the bigs/center defending Kai is not that mobile

to time Kai's penetration and take out his space/balance. You could see that Kai created enough space on those attempts

and the defender's hand was far from reaching the ball even Kai's face haha. And the defender can't impose their stronger mature bodies since

Kai was a lot faster when using those skyhook than when Kai is in a stationary and post up position before doing the skyhook.

Kai needs to improve his defense and needs to have more hustle.
Reason being is that he?s having hard time to position himself to box and get those rebounds.
And again, there?s some instances he?s only at one place waiting for the lob.
I believed kai?s ticket is his defense to gain more interest to some other teams if he plans to move out of Adelaide.

As long as Kai can create enough space whether in a stationary/post up or off the dribble penetration before shooting skyhook

then that will be very good go-to-move on Kai. Just enough space is the key and that's automatic on Kai with enough repetition lol

Honest answer: because he's struggling when he's posting up.
Even when he has 5 or more inches on the defender. Maybe he lacks strength trying to get to comfortable spot but he has to make quicker decisions when he's trying to post up.

He's better playing as a modern big on offense.

He was trying this move all last season, he only succeeded once when he spun away from the basket. He couldn't do it before because of a younger body and weight difference along with the physicality. Now that he's older, filled up, and suddenly has an increased motor, the stuff he did at TSF like these hook shots are more and more usable.

Look up the TSF highlights, he was doing this at the high school level in the post drive.

You are quite right and I think many people here have the same observation. To add though, no matter how in-game active he will be, it will boil down to his overall body conditioning, especially on his stamina. Kung parati syang kapos mahihirapan talaga syang makakuha ng playing time. Others will say how could he improve his stamina if he spends more time riding the bench. For me it doesn't matter. He must stay focused, outwork everyone in the gym, during training and work closely with the team's strength and conditioning coordinators and nutritionists. Ultimately, his efforts will eventually pay off.

Rhenz Abando (188cm) ties Kim Joo-Sung (206cm) and Yoon Ho-Young (196cm) for most blocked shots as a rookie with six blocks.

Kim Joo-Sung: 2003 (twice did it)
                                Yoon Ho-Young: 2009
                                Rhenz Abando: 2022

It is poetic that Abando did it against DB, where legends Kim and Yoon played.
