I feel Lassiter would have made some difference with Chot's Gilas-2 team in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship & 2014 FIBA World Cup, specially since Jeff Chan struggled in the 2014 World Cup. Also, I feel Lassiter would have been very serviceable with coach tab Baldwin's Gilas-3 team in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championships. Baka nadisgrasya pa yung China sa atin in that championship game with the likes of Junmar, Lassiter, Tenorio, Japeth, Paul Lee & Chan in tow. But SMC as well as ROS didn't lend those players."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

RoS is implementing a similar system. Nambatac nominally plays point, but actually Gabe is the one being the facilitator.

Among the Pba Gilas Special Draftees. He is the only one who I think have a shot in having a gilas spot for 2023.
But because of his size, he will be in disadvantage.
I dont think he is talented enough to compensate.
I would prefer Kiefer, Bolick, Juan, and maybe Dalph as the point guard.
But we nwver know. As I said he have a shot, but a long shot

Pringle didn't play today, though.Originally posted by JAMSKIE View PostNice to see Arvin Tolentino play like that. How tall is Arvin? Is he a legit 6-foot-5? He's another good size small forward. If I'm not mistaken, Arvin was part of coach Chot Reyes' original "23 for 2023" Gilas cadet pool way back 2018. But since nasa SMC group na sya, he has become a forgotten member of Gilas.
Yeah, he was part of Chot's original 23 for 2023. His height, talent and knack for scoring makes him a tantalizing prospect for Gilas. Sad to say that now that he's with an SMC team, which like you said will make it kinda difficult for him to go to Gilas. And, while I like his talent, do we need him, especially considering that he just turned 26?

Originally posted by JAMSKIE View PostWell, its always better to have deeper pool of good size forwards, small forwards in particular, in Gilas. Good to have Navarro, Dwight, Oftana, Kobe Paras, Ken Tuffin, Rayray Parks (possible Gilas call-up)in the pool for the february games of the 2nd window qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup.
I hope we can expand this pool of SFs further.

Teams take more 3pt shot today than a decade ago. All teams can put a line up that all players can shoot from 3pt. Like SMB, put Mo in place of JF, now you have all players able to take 3pt. 4out and 5 out offense is common.
The only thing that need to be address is higher efficiency.
2019 WC qualifiers: .359 3PAr (292 3PA out of 813 FGA; 7th out of 16), and a 31.2 3PT% (91-292; 9th of 16)
2019 WC proper:.418 3PAr (143 3PA out of 342 FGA), and a 25.2 3PT% (36-143; 31st out of 32)
2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers: .376 3PAr (170 3PA out of 452 FGA; 12th out of 20), and a 37.1 3PT% (63-170; 5th of 20)
In the qualifiers, Gilas has been in the middle of the pack when it comes to 3 point attempt rate. It actually increased from 2019 to 2021. We're only 11 last qualifiers, because a lot of teams took more threes, which formed a bigger percentage of their attempts. Teams like SoKor, Japan, and Chinese Taipei had a 3PAr over .400.
We're already taking more threes. Making them would be good too. Hope we can still make them come FIBA Asia Cup and WC qualifiers.

Dwight Ramos' recent struggle in the B-league somewhat worries me as far as his development as a national team player is concerned. His overall performance in the B-league pales in comparison with his stellar performance in the 3rd window of the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game.
