I think it's almost a month now since SBP submitted to FIBA QBM's documents that will prove his eligibility to play for team Pilipinas as a local player yet there's still no result. I wonder what is taking FIBA this long to decide?

"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

But the process takes time
“We're checking the green passport of QMB. We also filed before Fiba minus the green passport and checking what they will label him,” said Panlilio in a text message.
I don't even know what Panlilio exactly meant."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Hell even SBP can ask the DFA could to forge or manipulate a PH passport whenever they want. It would be risky but seeing how corruption can be seen on every part of Philippines identity, it would be possible to do it. Just money talks, I guess.

Sir lemon,
we don't need to dip our fingers to do some dirty transactions.
it really ain't cool moving forward.
rather SBP and it's other stakeholders should invest to kids with potentials esp. with height 6'7 and above
to study and play in the HS level here.
I think the Colin Akowe and Racine Kane route is a good template
I don't think it will fall in that so-called human trafficking thing or child abuse because the narrative is about child education
in relation to sports development specifically basketball development. certainly with parents and guardians consent.
if it is related to labor thing then that is already a red flag.
obviously kids of African descent are majority that we've also seen either basketball, volleyball, football both for mens and womens
now back to QMB, I remember one of the complain of the Millora-Brown family specifically from his late Dr. MD Grand Daddy
is the legworks on obtaining the docs same remarks from Ron Harper Sr. wherein eventually his Jr. obtained that after his 16th birthday
according to some of the old forumers here.
for now, the important thing is the big dude are willing to play for us and he is genuinely committed to the program.
as for the FIBA's verdict, well majority of the members of their respective national teams in the Asia-Oceania are still in the tail-end of their respective club commitments
I rather hear a verdict during the off-season either by May or first week of June.
otherwise if FIBA releases their official statement either positive or negative few weeks before the actual conclave in Aug.
then that's a bummer.

If I'm to choose between RJ Abarrientos & SJ Belangel as additional guard for Gilas (in case coach Tim would want additional players), I would take the latter. Offense wise, I think Abarrientos is better, but on the defensive aspect, Belangel is the better guy. I like Belangel's "gulang" & "angas" which he displayed during his stint with Gilas in 2021 under coach Tab Baldwin. During that time, it was Belangel who started for coach Tab, but you can attribute that to familiarity since Belangel was coach Tab's point guard at Ateneo.
I think Belangel has really improved in the last 3 years or so & he is doing really well in the KBL."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. This would cost SBP alot of money since, his agents already probably looking overseas and probably have offers already.
