He’s shooting a movie I think Feel bad for him, moved from DLSU so he could play for Gilas and we don’t even know if he even got invited. If there’s a 3x3 maybe they should have him. Also he turned down T1 and B2 offers I believe.

T1 League and B.League offers can earn him millions in a couple of months. Showbiz industry in our country is currently at low these days, in my opinion.

Not sure how much he actually earns but looking at his ig page he has a lot of endorsements. It’s passive income, he posts a pic with the product and he gets paid. He doesn’t have to do as much but I don’t know how the pay compares.

T1 has limited minutes for asian imports, is this true? Also our division 2 guys in B.league aren’t really doing well. And though I don’t like Bolick I heard his offer is also in div 2. Still, the others have Gilas, Filbasket or MPBL and he just went full showbiz for almost two years lol.

Well if he's happy at doing those things than playing ball then more power to him. He clearly isn't as invested in basketball than the others. I was wondering how a guy that looked like a future MVP contender at LaSalle played so bad in UP. Maybe he just doesn't want it as much as the other guys. Maybe he's contented earning money by posing half naked and being pa cute in TV.

A problem one particular player at Niigata also struggles with.

Oh, yeah. We'll need a new coach after 2023. Tab has to train his successor now. And we will need to keep this program.

If SMC takes over, what are the chances that they'll keep the development system and continutity in the program, and hire a coach that still emphasizes defense in international ball?

probably low for as long as Long Hair is the head of SMC sports operations.

I'm afraid for this team after 2023. Who knows, there might be a change of direction. I only hope 2019 doesn't happen again, and there would be less shortsightedness. Sayang naman kung puro All-Stars at the expense of developing high-upside Gilas prospects.

Pero, Chua has a potentially good FIBA coach in Chito Victolero. Tough defense, good for the international level, and has a good track record of developing players. Of the 3 coaches at SMC's disposal, he is the best suited for FIBA play, and defending against the likes of SoKor.

With the way SMC has messed everything in the PBA, is there a reason why we should be optimistic about Philippine basketball at the hands of SMC people?
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

                          • Man, I do hope whoever takes over the Gilas program will continue the youth movement, promoting high-upside deserving kids to the senior team, and still keep the team's defensive identity.

Arana's 22 or 23, a. Baltazar transitioned to wing at 23-24. Is a conversion still possible?

Arana's skillset could be developed in the senior team, and he's got upside as a defensive player. He's also got size at 6'7". Hope he can get a Gilas invitation. He could be further developed to a Baltazar/Tamayo type of player with the senior team.

Lepalam's addition means that NCAA guys are on the Gilas radar. Hopefully they look to add more NCAA guys like Arana, and probably Beda's JB Bahio, who could be useful as a wing.

Only saw highlights of Arana's game on YT but I can say that he's passed the eye test (my eye test) as far as having qualities of a legit combo forward in Gilas basketball context is concerned. Not quite sure yet if he can fully transition to wing position in offense, but he's got decent handles and finishing at fastbreak for a 6'6" homegrown.

Moving on, I think he deserves a Gilas call-up. Can't go wrong with inviting 6'6" and above guys with wing potential.
