We need third and fourth bigmen because Edu and June Mar also have injury history. We cannot fully rely on them.
I'm OK with us going with Ange as our NP after JB retires. He's in the pool anyways, and has played under Cone before.

Baloria I thought would have at least have a Mark Macapagal like career.

Originally posted by IPC View PostAt this point, we just need to see if there can be a workable lineup among the available pieces. We have to use the Doha tournament and this window to figure it out.
I'd like to win our group, but priority should be to find a workable lineup. We will need as many workable lineups as possible, especially in the November 2025 and even February 2026 windows.Originally posted by IPC View PostOK, I'll have a few questions here.
1. Do we have the players to form a workable lineup when none of Kai, AJ, and Japeth are on the floor?
2. How do the players and the system compensate for the lack of an interior defender when none of Kai, AJ, and Japeth are on the floor?
3. If we don't have a workable lineup without Kai, AJ, and Japeth, how will we adjust?
As to 1 and 2 (which are interrelated), I remember that we played the games against Georgia and Brazil with June Mar and Japeth as basically our only centers (Kai was there against Georgia for only a half). We zoned against Georgia, and we shot 36-57 from the field (13-23 from 3). Against Brazil, June Mar was targeted in PnR and we couldn't get our offense going in the 2nd half.
I hope we have answers to 1 and 2 by this window. If we can't answer them, we'll have to answer 3 after the Asia Cup.Originally posted by JAMSKIE View PostIf only QMB is declared by FIBA as local Pinoy in time for the 3rd window, and Ange Kouame being declared by FIBA as Gilas local player as well, we won't be having this kind of discussion.

Imagine if QMB is declared FIBA eligible & Kouame getting a FIBA exemption (Wishingful thinking ba ako?), we definitely have the deepest pool of talent at the center spot in Asia (Asia lang ha, di kasali Australia & New Zealand). Both QMB & Kouame are known as dependable big men defenders.
Then if for instance Mike Philipps & Zave Lucero also getting FIBA exemptions, magiging malalim na rin yung 4 spot natin. And these are young 4's which includes Carl Tamayo who is only 24 & Mason Amos who is around 21."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

And right now they are not panicking.
It's like when you're going to fight someone you think you can easily beat, but when you see him very calm and composed, you better think twice. He knows something you don't.

cc: Sir Jams,
all of us here are very much critical on the Grandpas.
as much as we keep on asking and questioning "Why they don't do this, do that?, they should do this and that??? storyline.
on the other side of the coin, serious money is an onion...that is why sometimes we can't blame them
yes it was revealed that they could offer juicy meaty stuff if they really want..."The Jordan Clarkson and Andray Blatche storyline".
someone whisper to me that those ballers that are part of CTC's pool are also receiving "the juicy and meaty stuff as well".
no one is complaining nor whining because the TF is very satisfying and "All are Happy". they are well fed.
that is why "We love representing Gilas".
well that's part of the trade of professional basketball "high risk high reward"..high maintenance big expectation".
we at IBNeverse are very much aware of it.
on that part we can't totally blame PBA/SBP/SMC/MVP if until now we haven't heard nor read about the proposed Team B as of this writing.
now enters the U16 and U18 to be handled by coach Tinyente
obviously that will be the Cadet Development Team moving forward...surely that would be another humongous investment on their part.
as a fan, I ain't pushing my "Main Panic Button" yet because the main dance number at the desert is still a few months away.
for as long as they keep on doing those mini camp/small camp on every windows, club breaks and off-seasons
the so-called "building blocks".
I've already mentioned this before, Grandoa Dean is an active adviser of his fellow Grandpas
and he already wrote several articles about "FIBA's playbook on exemptions".
well the impression of "they are not panicking", I think that's part of their office culture(?) acting like "Slow Horses".
no one knows until we became part of their circles.
for as long as they release the exemption verdict "in the right place at the right time". I'm cool on that.
in an imperfect world..wether we like it or not that's the attitude of our stakeholders who handles the NF.

I didn’t get carried away with Tim’s recent success. I don’t plan to even if we miraculously win the Asia Cup.
The real litmus test is still qualifying for Qatar 2027 and LA 2028.
We meet both objectives, then maybe I’ll believe this “smaller pool is better” BS.Originally posted by deku_midoriya View PostHigher bar set for Gilas just because of your hatred towards Alpob

realistically, handling high profile national basketball team composed of high profile ballers
with very discerning and super duper critical fan base (we in IBNeverse are very much part of it whether we admit it or not)
is like working inside a pressure cooker despite having an ideal centralized AC with an 18 to 20 degree Temp.
in a well ventilated, smell good manicured carpet flooring beside a well tinted window overlooking the very lovely Manila Bay
with it's romantic sunset during the dawn and pantries are always full of fresh fruits and pika-pika including the big corporate fridge with lot's of indulgence
but still your sweating sticky all over because the nature and trade of the job.
money is not a problem, the management has a very deep pocket and both businesses are striving big-time(wala talaga magugutom at malulungkot)
it's just that they are very very demanding, meticulous and scrutinization are felt on all corners
it's like having a lot's of CCTV on all corners including inside the comfy R.
despite all those very intimidating environs almost toxic in a way
but if you've done all your task on time without any major Sev 1 issue thing
certainly you will be rewarded and feels good like your a stud and a superstar.
anyway, we as a fan just need to relax(?) while watching a movie
either you laugh, amuse, hate, cry, sympathize, angered, despise, love the characters involved.
in the end your still longing for more..(sana may part 2..sana may season 2)
the drama and adventure of Philippine basketball
off-topic: Severance S1 is one heck of a TV series, you can't figure it out until the latter part of the season, the first few episodes is like "What's going on?? kind of a ride until
"ahh I get it", creepy and mind boggling, all actors and actresses are topnotch but for me I'm beginning to be a fan of Adam Scott and Tramell Tillman on this, highly recommended, S2 is on-going..

Guys, is that already an almost certainty that QMB will be declared by FIBA as Filipino "local" player? Sort of formality na lang ba ang kulang?
Speaking of QMB, the guy may just be around 6-foot-9 on barefoot, but he seems to have an impressive wingspan. So even if for instance he's only 6-foot-9 on barefoot, with such long wingspan, it would be like having another 7-foot-1 big guy for Gilas.
IT’S THE QMB ZONE ✊Look back as Quentin Millora-Brown dominated the court with his unstoppable plays for the UP Fighting Maroons in the UAAP Season 87 Men’...

Originally posted by ja.he View PostFor me, the addition of 1 or 2 bigmen is enough because this is where the shortage is really crucial. The absence of a bigman, especially a rim protector/defensive anchor, really changes the complexion of the game.
The problem is, after those four, the cupboard is bare. And Ange is a naturalized player.
