Yes, the bro is more realistic. Gilas hype for him was pretty high (he was willing), that's probably about 10 years ago now. Too bad his height then of 6'4 didn't really improve anymore.

I have a feeling though that younger bro Dylan got a Ph passport in time. If Jr got one (10 years ago), it makes sense they applied together.

Jr has been playing in pinoy leagues since he was 16 at least. Same age/team as Ginebra's Paul Garcia.

Yup. And I think we have better chance of making Ron Harper, Jr. agree to play for Gilas becoz he is simply not good enough to play for team USA.

      • if my memory serves me right.

        I stand to be corrected.

Ron Harper Jr. was part of the very first 2024 SBP sponsored Talent Identification Camp @ Las Vegas

with coach Norman Black and ED Ericka Dy with Jaime Malonzo as one of keynote speaker(?) and trainor(?) alongside RHJ

Mother Mary P's aspiration is to see his sons team-up and played together if there's an(juicy and enticing) opportunity presented.

Jalen Green is the current gold standard amongst the current hafus hands down

IMHO, I'm just being real, his defensive skill sets is a waterloo.

idol Grant Hill are fond on (SG) players who's very much into that "2-way level".

Antman, Booker, Spydah is the consensus top in that spot but I think there mindset was only(?) for the Olympics.

Jalen Williams, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Desmond Bane, Devin Vassell,

Cam Thomas, Caleb Martin, Max Struss, Keldon Johnson, Julian Champagnie fits the bill

I would be happy if both Jalen Green and Dylan Harper would be selected for possible WC 2027

but with so many big fish in the 6'5-6'6 level it's still a long shot.

I hope I'm wrong on this.

Well both Dylan and Junior can play together for Gilas with the latter as a NP and the former as a local if he is eligible.
What a way to play together for mom's motherland.

I would be happy if you will turn out right bro. If malabo chance ni Dylan Harper to make it to team USA becoz of very very tough competition at the wing positions, then this is exactly the kind of break Philippine basketball would need so as boost the chance of Dylan playing for Gilas.

Then the recent promotion of Dylan and Jr as Filipinos by FilAm Nation on their page makes sense. I remember their Facebook page posting a story featuring a picture of Dylan and Jr with their mom, subtly hinting at the possibility of them playing for the country.

So Dylan playing as local and Jr playing as the NP might be possible considering Dylan won't be a Team USA caliber player. Although I think Dylan won't agree to playing for Gilas if he won't be with his brother.

If Jalen Green maintain his current form definitely he will be under consideration by USA Basketball. How about Dylan? I think he’s too young even by 2027. The selectors may probably just pick one in his cohort 2025 and that is Copper Flagg….

Anyway, we really need to consider seeing how we can integrate FSAs into our professional basketball culture. At the end of the day, they can provide something we lack, which is a good mix of height and strength

Dylan is still in college, no one really knows how he'll turn out in the nba. He's not like a Wemby where it's almost guaranteed.

What gives us hope though is that the family is in touch with their Pinoy roots. And just like Jalen who on record said his goal is Team USA but afterwards, he's open-minded about Gilas. It could be like a Klay situation.

                      • It seems Junmar has become a better player in the FIBA & international game now than what he was 6 to 7 years ago. I don't know but maybe one of the reason is that coach Tim knows how to utilize Junmar more than coach Chot did. Also maybe the emergence of young good size centers like Kai Sotto & AJ Edu compliments Junmar's game & takes out some burden off his shoulders. May katulong talaga sya sa ilalim & those 2 young big men also somewhat space the floor becoz of their medium range game.

Now, I just hope that QMB gets FIBA eligibility so as he will serve as Junmar's replacement when the latter retires from Gilas. I also hope SBP applies for exemption on Ange Kouame so that if FIBA declares Kouame as eligible to play for Gilas as local, lalo pang lumalim ang pool of talent natin sa center position. Then what about the chance that Mike Philipps also getting a FIBA exemption?

Such possibilities, which I think eh hindi malayong mangyari, would be very impactful for our national team. The ball is really in the hands of the SBP.

If we are going to get scorers as our NP, it's likely that we'll need a good pool of FIBA-eligible solid interior defenders who can play 5. Kai, AJ, and Japeth, for instance. Then like you said, hope QMB, Ange, and Mike getting eligibility.

Kai and AJ are always Crucial for Gilas.

Especially when they reach their primes in 3 - 5 years.

Based on what I see from Coach Tim. Seems like he wants Tamayo, Quiambao, and Mason to be the Forwards Supporting them in Frontline.

Ofc, QMB will be a lock is he is really eligible.

And we never know. Maybe like Sage will play for PBA. and be given exemption
