Very much agree with U bro.

What is Troy Rosario's age? He turns 33 in a few days. He's more of just a band aid solution.

As I’ve said previously, they don’t have the balls to swallow their pride and take in players under Pineda and associated with Tab.

CTC is running out of excuses not to expand the pool. It’s quite obvious which guys should be included.

They want guys na pwedeng i salang sa SMC group in the future.

Honestly we've been lucky that every one is relatively healthy until now and our depth so far is alright but it's foolish not to have a real pool. You can be a fan of CTC and still criticize him. He better learn to adapt or it will hinder our NT like how Chot's small ball hindered Gilas before

        • I think when it comes to the pool, we should be asking these questions:

          1. Can this group last until 2028 at least?
          2. Can we get additional players that can play for the 2031 WC cycle?
          3. Do we have holes we need to fill?
          4. Do we have anyone that can step in in case our older players retire?

            1) No, a lot of the players will be too old and the case of injuries is a real major concern as shown by what happened to Kai and KQ.
            2) Yes, but Cone is being stubborn: Baltazar, Heading, an eligible QMB and localized Kouame and Phillips, Lopez, and Konov are perfect for the 2031 cycle.
            3) Big point guard. Shooters. A mobile 4-5 to back up Sotto and Edu.
            4) The names I mentioned. Lopez should be coached by Norwood in terms of defense so he can be our regular 3 with KQ.

              Sir Jams,

              exactly.

as I said that Feb. window is a no bearing games to us.

for me personally, I'll just wait for the coming training camp

in preparation for the main dance number.

those in the IBN's wishlist is still very much concentrated on their respective ball clubs

that's a valid excuse, no argument on that.

there's a lot of pains and aching each passing day

I'll just observe what will be the actions after this conference

              • Same thing happened during other coach's stint. Chot Reyes had Kib Montalbo, Baldwin had Mike Nieto, etc.

                • In my opinion I think the SBP should consider building around their core players which includes Kai Sotto (22 y/o), AJ Edu (25 y/o) and Dwight Ramos (26 y/o) and complement them with players around their age group. They should already be integrating players that would replace aging players like Junemar (34), Newsome (34), Thompson (32) and Perez (31). I would argue that players like Rhenz Abando (26) and QMB (24) who have no existing contracts should be included in their pool of players and be extended invites to at least attend their practices.

They are already considering it, i remember Chua mentioning age concerns with Fajardo and Newsome.

                    • If we're talking about age, here's the birth years of the current pool:

                      1987: Japeth
                      1988: Brownlee (NP)
                      1989: June Mar
                      1990: Newsome
                      1992: Troy
                      1993: Scottie, CJ
                      1996: Oftana, Malonzo
                      1997: Ange (NP)
                      1998: Dwight
                      2000: AJ
                      2001: Carl, Quiambao
                      2002: Kai
                      2004: Mason

                      • Here's the depth chart of the pool so far:

                        Guards: Scottie (1), Dwight (2/3/1), Newsome (2/1), CJ (2/1)
Wings: JB (NP; 3/4/5), Oftana (3/2), Malonzo (3/4)
                        Tweeners: Carl (4/5/3), Quiambao (3/4), Mason (4), Troy (4/3)
Bigs: Kai (5/4), June Mar (5), AJ (4/5), Japeth (5/4), Ange (NP; 5)

As for listing Dwight at guard, I feel like he moves and handles more like a guard. Quiambao's a tweener until he plays the wing full-time in Gilas and in the pros because of his skillset.

I think during Baldwin's stint as Gilas coach in 2020 to 2021, his team was limited to amateur players as PBA wasn't that committed in lending its top players for the National team. This limited coach Tab's prospects, hence the inclusion of Ateneo players like Mike Nieto & Isaac Go - players that many fans believed didn't deserve to be on the team. But I think coach Tab's plan was to have as many Ateneo players in Gilas while the team was still in its infancy. Those Ateneo players are supposed to be the glue of the team so as the team achieves enough cohesion & chemistry during its infancy. As the team matures, guys like Mike Nieto & Isaac Go will be out of the team & be replaced with more talented & able players.

Coach Tab's Gilas had limited prospects kasi nga amateur players lang ang pagpipilian nya, hence his choice of less deserving players like Mike Nieto & Isaac Go.

In coach Tim Cone's case, he has all the luxury & benefit of choosing all available players - PBA, B-league, KBL & amateur players.

                            cc: Sir live_

                            here's my 2 cents..

I totally agree on Sir live's answers

                            now here's my additional take.

                            1.
obviously it's a no. were talking about contact sports here be it on a low or high level competition

so it's inevitable that someone will experience pain here and there

it's really up to the player's themselves on how to take care of their body to always perform on the highest level..perfect example idol LBJ.

                            2.
I've already mentioned it before that our stakeholders in that NSA should have "a visionary mind".

FIBA's provisions are scattered all over 'www' wherein there's a 23 yr. old rule to those ballers who already played in a sanctioned tournament in the youth level
but contemplating or planning to change allegiance to play in the Senior level to another National Federation Member

blue chippers like 19 yr. old Dylan Harper, 17 yr. old JJ Mandaquit and 20 yr. old Jared McCain still fits the bill

Money Problem?? no problemo!! RSA group and MVP group combined are financially competitive compared to those on the current top 10 rankings of FIBA

it's all about how SBP market's his products to those lads

I think the best kicker for that is this, "Germany carves a history during WC 2023 with their long term battle plan and Team Pilipinas are doing the same thing towards 2031 and beyond
join us and we will make our own history as well

the likes of Sedrick Barefield, Mike Philips, QMB, Terrence Hill, Jr., AK34, Zav Lucero, Kai Ballunggay, Keith Datu, Remy Martin among others whose still in the ideal age come 2031 cycle
will(must) be part of that exemption.

not to mention to those kids that will eventually discovered by newly appointed Batang Gilas Sports Development Officer(?) coach Norman Black

                            3.

reality hit us hard bro. all the while we thought we(beginning to be) already satisfied with our frontline but with Kai, AJ and now KQ latest health issues "ay!! hindi pa pala".

still the running issue is our PG, 2 and 3 spots are still vulnerable against the higher seeded

overall, our core is still a "work in progress" in terms of personnel but gladly, CTC's system can hold against the best so far

                            4.

we had an abundance of PG and 2-Guards that can fill-up the spots when that comes

the running challenge is really the 3,4 and 5 spots that is why we are always contemplating to tap the naturalize route to fill-up that spot

realistically majority of the possible candidates are ineligible hafus.

My point here is that, if coach Tim has to get someone as a "band-aid" solution, why not someone who would be serviceable for the future? Hindi yung 33 na yung edad in which 2 or 3 years from now, that player most likely would already be washed up.

A big YES is the answer bro.

Among the oldest players in the current line up are Junmar & Chris Newsome. I think Jordan Heading can replace Newsome (not to say they have the same qualities), while QMB (assuming he is indeed FIBA eligible) can replace Junmar.
