In the future, I would prefer that we go with Anj as the naturalized player, with Carl or KQ at the small forward position. This approach would allow our Golden Generation to perform in its purest form, showcasing our pinoy brand of basketball. Anj is truly a product of Philippine basketball, and we should focus on maximizing Kai's offensive potential, making it easier for him in matchups against Asian, Oceania, and Australia's secondary teams. For world-class competition, RHJ Jr. would be ideal, and hopefully, we can secure an exemption for Anj eventually.

Cone said he will use brownlee in both games. This makes sense if his original objective is to reach world top 30 with a pair of strong home wins.
With more local pinoys playing in foreign leagues, the nt has a decent chance of cracking the top 20 elite list. If the boatman as scoring big np delivers like batman, this is more than possible. There are now very good local filfor and local candidates at 6'5-6'7 for the nt so the perennial weaknesses at big guard and small forward positions can be permanently patched.
Edu is too unreliable for nt duties with his too-many injuries. There are several 6'8-6'9 locals who can be trained through the pba to replace him, and included in the 15-man pool.

That means we need an extra backup defensive big in case either of Kai and AJ gets hurt, and/or a good defensive wing. Oftana, Malonzo, and Quiambao will have have to get better on perimeter defense, at least be able to prevent dribble penetration.

Thing with Bennie, though, is that we need good defensive personnel to support him, since his interior defense in the PBA wasn't that good (although he does know how to rotate). We need either a good defensive big beside him, or good defensive players at 1-2-3 in front of him.

Assuming he's eligible, he's a very good candidate to replace Newsome once the latter retires.
Good size, plays guard, and works hard on defense.
Back to bigs, the truth is we don't have many options.

I think with the newsfeed that was posted today
the PBA really needs to revised/upgrade it's eligibility ruling
to allow Philippine schooled and developed AK34 to join next year's draft
in commemoration of it's 50th Anniversary.
news about Kai and AJ's health issues every now and then
is such an onion moving forward
in doing so, hopefully in 2026 or WC 2027 cycle we could that exemption for that dude
as for Michael Philips, Zav Lucero, (hopefully)QMB and others
after the LA 2028 or early 2029 is the perfect time to facilitate
for their exemption in preparation for WC 2031
as per my posted item from the other thread
those recently identified/discovered younglings with height must be trained
in preparation for the Batang Gilas program
it's no-brainer that it is the only way to make sure Philippine basketball
will have a handful of FIBA ready talent in the 4 and 5 spots
it can be done.

As for bigs, the options are to keep calling up Japeth, naturalize a big who can defend the interior, hope for the FIBA exemptions of Ange and Mike, recall someone like Kemark Carino and hope he pans out, or hope we get another big capable of defending the paint.

i agree Ange being a local solves a few problems in 1 sweep but we need a few more than just Ange. heck, even if Hepa, Sage, and JJ miraculously all became locals, we still need a stronger recruitment for Pinoys outside the country and better way to develop in country talent.I would also want to see more coaches getting their feet wet with international experience even if just as asst (SGA or youth team maybe?) just so picking a new coach after CTC (whenever that is) international experience would be less of a deal.WE DON'T COUNT YEARS, WE COUNT CENTURIES

The next 10 years is the peaking of Kai and Edu. If injuries weren't a concern with Edu, he has shown at the Worlds that he's that rare asian who can defend the likes of KAT one-on-one while Kai has shown that he's a rare asian big who can hang with the likes of Latvia. I would rate Edu and Kai being injury-free higher than an Ange exemption as something we really need. Of course Ange getting exempted would be nice too.
Either way, for me we still need a naturalized nba-level big if we want to compete against higher level tiers. We are afforded more choices in wings and guards, while international-level bigs are still in limited supply.
