But any Gilas Coach Tim, Chot, Yeng, etc are automatically choosing them becaus they are the only gilas eligible pba bigs that are of quality.
Who among the pba bigs can we even try?
Ian? Raymond? Poy? Chua? Ara

If KQ can find time to play in Ligang Labas, I'm pretty sure he's available for the national team. Unless there are scheduling conflicts with the UAAP and the Gilas schedule, I don't see any reason why he can't play.

putting AK34 to the Gilas pool is a good indication moving forward, it seems that Meralco will tap(?) another import instead of Ange
in which as per EASL the dude are tag as a local instead of a world import and this is a good idea(hopefully) to the PBA Grandpas
to update it's century old eligibility rules and allows AK34 to join next year's PBA draft in commemoration to the league's 50th Season.
they've always talking about new innovations here and there to make it more attune to the new landscape as far as world basketball
are concern in which the B. League are doing now.
if the PBA could do that, the path for FIBA exemption would be less rocky "tama po ba Sir Dave?"
as I keep on mentioning, our 4 and 5 spots are still glassy and vulnerable
and that's very critical considering we have limitations on that position
and we cannot afford to be eaten alive esp. to those teams in the upper part of the food chain
having AK34, the dude can still be serviceable until the 2035 cycle depending on his physical condition
based on the current settings and philosophy of the SBP, having Kai-AJ-AK34-Junmar-Brownlee-Carl-KQ-Jaime-Dwight-Scotty-CJ-Calvin with Mason, Balti(hopefully), Boatwright
is the ideal line-up/pool towards LA 2028

There are enough very good local players to match up with majority of asia's best teams like iran, china, south korea and japan. Against these teams, the philippines can easily get 24 highly qualified players as candidates. And that doesnt even include filfors and naturalized players.
The only real problems are the australian and new zealand teams which have a steady annual supply of skilled and mobile natural bigs. They also can easily include 2-5 players with some tough nba experience. Against these two teams, only the best 14-15 local and imported players available can work.
The naturalization process is ridiculously slow. Worse, they waste legislation time and paperwork by applying for only ONE imported player. They should apply for 3-4 players per batch. Then, depending on anticipated match-up misalignments and availability problems, easy good choices can be made. There were never any restrictions on the number of naturalized players. The philippines can have maybe 12 available nps a year. The pba and mpbl can use them to toughen local bigs.
For instance, if kai, aj or fajardo are not available, the most powerful, rebounding demon imported big player should be the replacement. Against teams with lots of aggressive skilled forwards like australia, the best pba-tested two-way forward must be in the lineup.
Btw, it wont matter at the national team level, unlike in the pba, even when cone's plays are easy to read. The national team players individually are vastly superior to ginebra players. Tnt with rhj cannot defeat the nt. Only the top WORLD teams can possibly neutralize tandems among kai, fajardo, edu, kouame and aguilar. For instance, you may know how exactly newsome will pass inside to kai or fajardo; but which asian powerhouses exactly can actually stop the tag-team of kai and fajardo from scoring? The pinoy big guards and small forwards have nothing to fear from their aussie counterparts either.
The nt has an average height of 6'6 to 6'7 today. It cant be physically overpowered unlike earlier nt avatars. So homecourt defense against the strongest asian teams like aus, nz, or japan should be very favorable.
The only slight weakness would be the lack of reliable distance volume shooters. You always need a very dangerous assassin like steph curry against which hate-filled fans are useless. Such are needed against opponents with hostile crowd support.
