In a vacuum, yeah, actually. And although CJ's a good defender with Gilas, Holt is an upgrade on both ends.

However, in the long-term, although Holt's older than CJ by just less than 2 years, he'll be 33 this December, so I have concerns about longevity and if he can last up to the World Cup. If he can last until then, I'd definitely take Holt.

"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Maybe if we're talking about Gilas in the next 2 years, Holt would be a very good prospect. In fairness to Holt, even if he's turning 33 next month, he is still not washed up.

Holt for Scotty, the thing with Perez that makes him abit hard to replace is that he has world class athleticism and probably the best slasher in the Philippines, (not including ineligibles) instant offense when the opponent slacks off for a bit.

If we're not getting a guy who can play defense at 3, 4, or 5 as our NP, having a player like Mike is a must. Hope we can take care of his exemption.

            • Kai just injured his ankle in the ongoing game vs. Nagasaki Velca. Hope it's just a minor ankle sprain.

Really unlucky but at least it's not an ACL injury.

Brandon Jawato just get his passport months before getting exemption.. Lish, Morgan also got their passports in their mid 20s.. as Sec. Zagklis said, if a player proves that he has strong connection to his country that he wants to play, he has a chance to get that exemption status.. it's up to SBP if they lobby Cstand and others...

Like he develop his game in local land similar to ange, newsome.. CS is zero.. played for german youth team.

Ange, onoh, mike phillips has higher chance of getting local than CS at age 27, pringle at 27, barefield and QMB..

You should backread this thread robert. You have lots to catch up..

afaik CS has also mentioned that he is retired from playing for the national team. so theres no point to lobby him as a local at this point.
The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 5 characters.

As I said, you have to remember the difference of basketball programs, laws, rules, etc.. of every country.. not all countries basing on US style school base programs just like we are.. and also Jawato didn't developed his game in Indonesia, he's already good since he was in US... Lish didn't develop his game in Thailand, that's for sure, but both doing residency for so long plus they have connections to their federation.. As Sec. Zagklis said, all you have to do is you have a "strong connection" to the country that you want to represent.. in Tagalog "PALAKASAN".. I think you even know what is the meaning of PALAKASAN or many will tell "BACKER".. if Cstand have a strong backer maybe he has a chance.. Jawato get his exemption because Mr. Thotir have strong connection to FIBA.. And by the way, Cstand is already retired to the national team.. So enough of this.. Mas marunong kapa Kay Sec. Zagklis eh..

Yeah.. and we have good bigs in our pool today.. better save this to the younger ones who likely we badly needed for exemptions in the future... Let Cstand finish his professional career here...

                          • It's good that FIBA upgrade their website, we can now finally see our past rankings.. Our best ranking was Dec. 2016 (that was after 2016 OQT) at 27th place.. our ranking in 2010 was 53th.. but I knew that before 2007, our rank was 69th.. maybe Fiba can't find the previous record prior to 2010.. another thing is in 2010, only 76 countries were ranked by Fiba that time.. now more than double who participating Fiba competitions...
