What's with Dwight Ramos that despite not having eye-popping credentials in the US NCAA Div. 1 college basketball, he is considered a vital component of Gilas & I think its safe to say that Dwight is a quality wingman in Asian basketball? And he has also performed well in world level basketball with the way he performed in the 2024 Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
What I also like about Dwight is that when playing for his B-league team, hindi naman sya ganun ka explosive sa scoring, but when he plays for Gilas even against world level opponents, doon talaga sya pumopokpok.
If you look at Dwight, he isn't really that quick, his athleticism is just slightly above averaged, hes no Gabe Norwood, Kelly Williams, or a Thirdy Ravena in terms of athleticism, but I think he compensates for such shortcomings thru skills & court smarts. And he's such a decent defender. It would be exciting if he's paired with another 6-foot-4 wingman na may quickness, athleticism & can play both offense & defense. Imagine a 6-foot-4 version of Marcio Lassiter or Dondon Hontiveros. That would be gravy."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. The team will play their first home games in the Nippon Ham Fighters baseball stadium this weekend vs AJ Edu's team.

Speaking of Gabe Norwood, compared to Dwight, the former doesn't only have better hops than the latter, he is also quicker & more agile than Dwight. But of course Dwight is a better offensive player than Gabe. Gabe though is the better defender, perhaps becoz of his edge over Dwight in athleticism.
Dwight appointed as the team captain of his B-league team would speak something about his leadership & raport with his teammates & coaches."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. For that matter, the Commisioners Cup starts just 3 days after the HK game. Gilas will win without KQ against HK, but maybe they do need someone else to play the two and backup Brownlee at the three against New Zealand if Ramos won't be ready. I'm assuming there wouldn't be a problem with the other B.League Gilas players.
Like I said in other threads/posts, Gilas is lucky that its really just New Zealand they have to deal with as far as potential scheduling clusterfucks for now. But once the FIBA Asia Cup is done and World Cup Qualifiers kick in, it'll be different layers of scheduling problems to deal with.
I think there won't be a problem with Gilas B-league players as the B-league would take a 2-week break to give way to the 2nd window Asia Cup qualifiers.
It's the Gilas PBA boys that are really a concern, especially those whose teams will play in the finals of the Governor's Cup.
Ginebra fans will curse me but I feel it would be better for Gilas that it wud be a SMB-TnT championship series so that Justin Brownlee would be available for Gilas training around 10 days before that much awaited game vs. New Zealand. We all know how much important Brownlee is to Gilas. Of course Ginebra not making it to the finals would also mean Gilas head coach Tim Cone being available for Gilas training as early as possible.
That game vs. New Zealand is crucial. I think everybody here at IBN is lokking forward for a Gilas win over tormentor Tall Blacks. No coach Tim, its your PBA that will cause the delay of Gilas training for the 2nd window. If you check the B-league schedule, you'll see that it will take a brief break about 10 days prior to the start of the 2nd window qualifier of the Asia Cup. By Nov. 12, available na po for Gilas training sina Kai Sotto, Dwight Ramos & AJ Edu.
Si Carl Tamayo lang among the Gilas player playing overseas that will be late in joining Gilas dahil may game pa yung KBL team nya on Nov. 14.
I'm just praying that the PBA Commisioner's Cup finals won't reach to a game 7 so that PBA Gilas players would be available earlier than expected. Since Ginebra has a very good chance of making it to the finals, if the finals would go to a winner-take-all game 7 then Gibebra's Justin Brownlee, Iskati Thompson & coach Tim himself would only be available for Gilas training by Nov. 16. That's 5 days prior to our game versus tormentor New Zealand.
Kung bakit pa kasi ginawang best of 7 series ang semis? The semis should have been a best of 5 series na lang."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game.
