But before to that their domestic HS program is probably top notch. Guard skills are probably taught to everybody. Hachimura, Watanabe and Kawashima? have guard skillls despite being 6’7 to 6’9 tall.

Why cant we have something like this? We probably have more 6’8 guys in thr pipeline than JP. Why cant we give them this training?

2nd is the a domestic league with unlimited height imports. The B league gives locals exposure to international level height and skills. It is like a super UAAP. So you get their midget PGs be aware of what skills to develop in order to be effective against trees. News flash, not all teams like to post their PGs. The number of UAAP products in the Asia leagues bear this out. With FSAs, UAAP players know how to play with and against almost 7 foot centers with length and athleticism.
We can have something like this.

We’re simply too corrupt and disorganized.

Doesn't help that morons like Vargas, Panlilio, Marcial, and Chua are the ones pulling the strings.

Other countries' natfeds have some athletes as part of their higher ups. Canada (Rowan Barrett, Steve Nash); USA (Chauncey Billups, Grant Hill); Serbia (Nenad Krstic, Pedrag Danilovic, Zlatko Bolic); South Sudan (Luol Deng); and Spain (Elisa Aguilar).

Here, SBP is being run by business/corporate people that, you may think, don't know d*mn thing about basketball at all. Al Chua is being the closest but I don't think that he is part of SBP.

Just let people with both corporate and basketball background to run the SBP (i.e. Chris Tiu, TY Tang or Jett Manuel).

If we are going down this road, I want the free three and three point dunk as well.

            • In fairness, conceptually a 4pt shot might be an equalizer for the smaller guys. Look even Steph cannot be effective with the physicality of the Fiba rules. But a 4pt line might give a niche for smaller guards with insane range.

              • Even the 3pt line was an arbitrary line when it was introduced. But it has revolutionized the game now.

MBA used many innovative rules to make the legue more interesting:
                  • Free3. Where a fouled player can opt to shoot 1 shot at the 3 point line in lieu of the 2 FTs . If shot goes in, it's worth 3 points.
                  • Blitz 3, Where any field goal converted within five seconds of a change of possession will be worth three points.
                  • 23 Seconds Shot Clock
                  • 8 second time limit to cross the half-court ( now a standard rule in NBA and FIBA)

                  • How I wish that we have a guy like Tatang Huertas in our team - a 6'3 point guard with great floor general skills and great mid-range game.

This could have been RJ Abarrientos but he is just 5'10-5'11.

                      That could be Newsome.

With today’s health and fitness programs, players could play up to 41 like Huertas.

Well, Newsome, like Tatang Huertas, is good at mid-range. In terms of height, Newsome is not that far behind at 6'1. The similarities end there as Huertas is really a floor general while Newsome is more of a defensive point guard.

Indeed, PBA will be in the history books for being the first professional league to introduce the 4pt line.

But just because Filipinos are the first at it, doesn't mean we're gonna be the best at it.

Once NBA and other leagues follow suit our "equalizer" as long range shooters will be negated.

PBA still hasn't addressed the height limit issue and talent gap from other leagues.

IBL already accepted the fact that their Indonesian players just won't cut it so they allowed multiple imports to play.

PBA is just too insular and idiotic they think it's good for our local players to just play among themselves all year long while expecting international basketball success to validate their very existence.
Manifesting: Philippines top 5 in the FIBA World Rankings

                            Agree.
A player may possess "some" or a No. of similarities with another player but that doesn't mean the former is equal to or better than the latter. In the Marcelino Huertas-Chris Newsome comparison, I think the big difference is Huertas being a natural point guard while Newsome being a natural shooting guard/off-guard. Yes, Newsome can play some point guard role but I don't think he will ever match Huertas' efficiency playing the point guard role. Of course there is also an aspect where Newsome is better than Huertas & I believe it is on defense.

                            • Zero Buckets made a video about his ideal U22 youth team. He said the SBP should try to emulate Japan's method since there are some players that are currently playing in their Olympic team that started out in Japan's U22 team.

                              • Question is, who will sponsor the U-22 developmental team/pool? Will the MVP group do it? SMC?

The U-22 team is obviously a brilliant idea, the only problem is sponsorship.
