Chiu and Versoza are fine as back up bigs. Mainly to relieve the starting bigs, Kai and Edu, during closing minutes of a quarter.

CTC is more willing to utilize a starter for 35-37 minutes from what it seems.

Brix does not look to have the dexterity and even length of JF. JF was 6’4 IRC at age 15 and early on developed skill and mobility as a not so tall big. Even in his full height IRC he liked a faster pace than a deliberate post oriented one. It was only in SMB that he slowed down.

I think DI’s mentorship of him is a little overrated. What did DI teach him, the chicken wing? DI is one example of being better Fiba suited before he turned Pro. DI in college was more quickness than strength. Same with Junemar. I think Junemar would have been a better Fiba player if he continued playing internationally. I think he was playing possum in the ABL. Playing not to get injured and trying no to stand out so SMB could pick him up without fanfare. But the PBA slowed him down and eventually broke his leg because of the weight.

Just think about it. JF already arrived in the PBA with a good shooting form and some moves emulating James Yap. What if he retained his college weight but polished his shooting and big game james moves? He would really have been our Nowitzki. Not the Nowitzki they call him in the recent hype tiktok.

            As I’ve said, reliever bigs.

We need their size. Utilise and optimise their size as best as we can.

At this point Geo is at SEA GAMES level big man, backup,he's improving but not at the rate that he would be a regular for big FIBA games,he's probably at least 2-3 years away to be beyond Asian Games level.

i mean it's been like that ever since. from Nokia to Energen to Smart. many players from the RP Youth team didn't make the transition to Men's NT.

Sad to say his ceiling is Justin Chua. He isn't even good in pickup games. He's a softie trapped in a 6'10 body. But I might eat my words since he's gonna have a year to work on his game in Japan.

                    Yep. I see the vision.

With how the game has evolved maybe we can turn Geo into a legitimate stretch big. Sort of how tab used Isaac Go in Ateneo. On offense just hit those shots from the pick and pop consistently. Or shots one dribble to the elbow. Give us a clean 4-8 points per game with high percentage shots. Become the primary hub for hand offs, fake hand offs then pass to cutter. But for real he must become a legit shooting threat so the paint stays decongested.

I saw him training with True Focus, and the coach was teaching him cross jabs from top of the key which I think is useless and a waste of time because he does not have a quick first step lol. As if the defender's gonna react to that. Was also teaching him how to veer finish. lmao. I respect these trainers but at least think if they're gonna translate into the the actual game.

if he doesn't get his body right teach him how to effin shoot instead. moreover, he's a big that can't bang inside so maybe work on being great at the basics. Baby hooks, floaters off two feet, up and unders, jumpshots from the short corner, fadeaways from the post. Just be great at the fundamentals and be solid on the defensive end. He doesn't need to be Kai or AJ but when those two are tired we need someone with size to cover us on defense and have minimal contribution off the bench.

Then he would have a game that,he would be realy physical,he's just not consistent, maybe a full season of Bleague will toughen him up some more, his development is steady slow.

Before Kai, AJ and Tamayo, who's the last one who transitioned to the Senior's Team? Kieffer? I know Tolentino was high profile during his time with the youth teams, right? There were reports Duke U scouts invited him to try out for the varsity team. But he's hardly ever mentioned to be considered in the Gilas Senior NT

I think Tolentino being recruited to tryout for Duke was just his agent or him stirring the pot. How could he be invited for a tryout if he was airballing shots in 2014 FIBA 3x3 World Tour and can't even dribble as a wing.

From RP Youth to the PBA there are many notable names: Caracut, Kiefer, Arvin, Prince Rivero, Alejandro, Kyles Lao, Von Pessumal, Jeron Teng, Isaac Go, Jordan Heading, Hubert Cani, Jerie Pingoy, Gab Banal, Ian Sangalang, Norbert Torres, RR Garcia, Tata Marata, Matthew Wright.

List does not include players from Batang Gilas but from that list only Kiefer, Arvin, Heading and Wright are worthy of Senior's Team consideration. Bad batting average.

the nagging question is why can't we identify as early as 14-15 years old if a player can transition to the seniors team?

why are the CJ Perezes and Robert Bolicks (both cut from Ateneo and La Salle respectively), not part of any youth team, while the Santi Romeros are?

Puberty, growth, development, injuries. Too many variables for any clear path. Realistically you can start to see potential around 16 -18 anything below hard to say

                              • same with US youth team, in the past 10 years the only notable players that became part of the senior team were Tatum, Brunson and Haliburton and maybe in the future Holmgren, Green, Barnes and Cunningham
