Rumor he wants to be president of SBP, but that will not be good since he has a son who is a coach which he might give speciall preference to coach the national team in youth and senior level. Please Coach Chot you are already done from the national team and you already coaching TNT , so please leave the national team alone.

How ironic that he was watching the game live against Georgia,a team that employed DDO and tried to the "Chot to Douthit" basket.

It's scary that he si back again in the scene, every time there is a success by Gilas, he always comes out and speaks out, and we know what happened next. He is not fit for SBO president due to his connection to Josh Reyes , and it will be nepotism, giving favor to his son for youth and senior program. When will he ever stop with his ambition in Pilipinas basketball? He already secured his job for TNT.

The famous adage comes to mind...it's better to be different than good.

Hopefully, the public will be patient when this team hits roadblocks. We're ahead of schedule so people's expectations are getting pretty high. What we will need is long-term stability and continuous development.
We'll need to avoid the mistakes of the past when we couldn't find viable successors to key locals like Castro, Jimmy, Gabe, RDO, and Ping. Hopefully, we'll have a good succession plan laid out for this team.

As for throwback, I like the fact that this team still fights hard and makes life tough for the opponent. The physicality too, I like very much. We did commit 32 fouls and give up 31 FT's in the OQT group phase, so we might need to control that in the future. Defend physically without committing a lot of fouls.

          • It seems that most of us here don't want that Chot Reyes will have anything to do with Gilas especially now that the team is looking good & seems headed in the right direction.

May balat yata sa pwet itong si Chot!

Trans: Chot Reyes will only bring bad luck to the team if he has anything to do with it.

Leave Gilas alone Chot. Just set your focus on Talk next in the PBA.

He can alternate at the 4 & 3 spots. I'm envisioning Lopez to be sort of a Calvin Abueva type of player - energy & hustle guy who can also play good defense. I hope that after this UAAP season Lopez would get an offer from a B-league team where he can start his professional career. I think it's about time he climbs to the higher level game.
Sa bagay, no. Ping at 6'4" was a good four for us. An athletic 6'5" tweener would be fine. Sometimes we can make exceptions.

Although, I still think it would be better for his FIBA potential to play the 3, and 4 in limited spurts. Hahahahahaha.

Calvin Abueva who is barely 6-foot-2 played as a small forward for Gilas in 2015 FIBA Asia Championship & was a vital component of the team. This to think that Abueva isn't exceptionally skilled. His outside shooting has always been suspect & his handles isn't that exceptional. But Abueva compensates for his inferiority in size & skills with sheer guts, energy, hustle & tenacity.

                • Whatever happens, the Gilas campaign is already the stuff of legend. Making it to the semis is bonus enough, but if the unthinkable happens and the team makes it to the finals and then the Olympics, a statue of Tim Cone deserves to be built somewhere.

Meantime, let’s set aside talks that volleyball has supplanted basketball as the country’s national sport. Volleyball, of course, enjoys one of the most remarkable resurgences in Philippine sports, converting thousands into a rabid fan base that fills stadiums and follow its iconic stars.

But unlike Gilas, volleyball has yet to make its mark in international competitions. It hasn’t even captured one gold in the Southeast Asian Games, the entry level of multi-nation sportsfests and the least competitive of regional meets.

That day may come, but in the here and now let’s give a toast to basketball, to Tim Cone, and the Gilas Pilipinas team.

                  • If the lopez attitude was less angas( body language reflects this)..tim cone might have invited him to the pool already
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

One of the reason 2nd half we werent able to score is when brazil's d locked them down, hey had a hard time making shots. Clarkson is creative, he'll surely find a way to score the bucket. Brownlee is great but this is his 3rd game in four days. Not ideal for someone his age.

On JC pala, I think he can fit if we have a defensive big like AJ in the lineup. If AJ goes down, our balance is compromised, unless Kai develops on defense. JC's weakness on defense will have to be compensated for.

I have the same issue with Boatwright.

Well, we defended well as a team this OQT, so defensive issues minimized.

We can't rely on one player for our defense. Lile Kai or JF. Everyone has issue in their game. AJ offense is not as good as JF or Kai and might be expose by others teams

I still believe that in 2027, Clarkson is the best pick of our team in 2027… Brownlee is old at 2027 while I have no trust on Boatwright yet until we will see in person… we have to be careful in 2027… only 1 spot directly to the Olympics from Asia… Kai and AJ are one in a million generation talent from Philippines… we have to surround them with better teammates and talent…

That's why it was comforting that our team defense was good this past OQT, especially with just JB, Newsome, Dwight, and now CJ as good defenders. Everyone did their part.

So it could be less of an issue if the NP's not as good defensively as Ange or even JB.

                            • So mason amos ends up not playing a single minute. Hopefully he embraces the stretch 4 role rather than being a wing as he prefers as he body isnt really equipped for it. If he ever develops his defense, he should be serviceable in the future.

                              • OQT 11 set up the blueprint, but from this, SBP | CTC should sit down and think this through to get better:

                                1. Its imperative that AJ needs to be healthy and replace the aging Japs.

                                2. Have a capable PG other than Iskati. Is PHL already done with Alapag-LA-Castro PG trio that CTC doesnt want to have another PG in the lineup? Fine, at least give practice time to SJ, RJ, Jerom, Dalph, etc. I still think Kieffer or Bolick can give meaningful floor-burns in place of Iskati.

                                3. KQ and Carl need more reps. The kids are alright. They havent been playing in a competitive setting since the SGA stint ended for KQ and when the BLeague team released Carl. If Team B needs to be formed, these 2 should be the Alphas on that team.

                                4. Oftana needs to get better or replace him altogether. Teen-aged 6'5-6'6 kids are aplenty these days. They can share the bench with Amos.. < OR >
. Bring back Navarro, Heading, or Lopez. Maybe invite Tuffin too. or lo and behold, even Thirdy.

                                5. Tell Benny Boatwright that his ceiling is Brownlee and his floor is Jordan Clarkson. Ok, maybe if can be another Andre Blatche, that would be fine too.

                                6. Make peace with all stake-holders , politicians, handlers, etc. We missed the services of Balti, Bolick, Wright, Abando (?), RJ(?) because of indifferences with priorities and opinions.
