if the new leadership at the PFF plays it's cards right we could be a force to reckon with and at the same time a good training ground for future 11-a side personnel.

no left overs I would say.

speaking of large spaces, the surrounding lots in the new sports complex in the New Clark City is a really a perfect spots ..it's very massive.

lot's of bigtime businessmen both foreign and locals are literally salivating upon seeing the area..

our football and baseball team deserves a world class facility.

I’m from Rizal (left in 2007) and the Ynares Center can also be converted to a Futsal court.

It's rare to see a Pinoy player like JF with only lack of speed as the only weakness
The lack of speed is really on Austria and the SMB management.

They were too obsessed with turning Junemar into Shaq.

And that made June Mar into a bigger defensive liability in FIBA.

In the PBA, that works, and June Mar can protect his teammates because not many teams can punish June Mar's slowness on defense, and SMB zone. Plus, in most cases, SMB win via a firepower advantage.

            Sir sroth,

I used to ply every now and then at that area during post and pre-pandemic years because we had a multinational client within the Antipolo and Tanay boundary whose into cement manufacturing and as a food lover, we used to hang-up in TamerLane during free time at the client site whose mouth watering ihaw-ihaw dishes, garlic rice and sinigang sa miso are the best, it's a knockout.

Calesa Bar and Grill is a perfect chillax place wherein they used to invite old school rock n roll band, I remember the Eheads used to play at the area during weekends their heydays.

I totally agree, Ynares Center is a good venue for Futsal event, good weather in that part of Antipolo during November to February, traffic is manageable.

              Haha I miss home.

Haven’t visited since I left. Really hate American Paid Time Off policies.

"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Can you tell me a player like JF that was slow but with training able to be fast like a Japeth. Also, Bong Quinto who loss a lot of weight from his college days. He didn't improve his speed significantly.

Again shown here so many times an article said that It's JF who wanted to eat more before as he was poor.

It's partly why I think our bigs usually develop/mature very late. All too often, our bigs (6'7+) who grow up under the radar (usually provinces, or non-sports families) only get discovered when they already had their growth spurt, which is late in their teens. By the time they get discovered and start playing basketball, it takes another 10+ years to get that 10,000-hour rule. So they only really start to reach their potential towards their late 20s.

Now for prodigies like Gemao, he started probably around 7 and reached that 10,000 milestone at around 17. This is also the timeline for majority of NBA/D1 players.

I think either Kai has an anatomical issue preventing him from running smoothly or maybe he lacked field training growing up. In EU even big guys like Jokic grew up playing football. Somehow I dont think Kai trained or played in the field growing up.

That's why I feel generally, we can develop Gilas-worthy homegrowns from just 1 to 4 without sacrificing strength or speed, with few outliers like June Mar, Japeth, and Kai. Otherwise, we need an NP or a player like AJ Edu.

Yeah, I have the same sentiments on Skati. He's best as a backup with his defense and hustle. Problem is, can Newsome or any other guard take over the starting 1 spot? What would we change in the rotation?

Why cone and chot dislike kiefer's game but foreign coaches (shiga coaches, tab and dickel) loves his game?

to answer the question. some pinoy coaches preference to scoring guard than a traditional PG.. shiga loves kiefer..
To be fair, Cone runs the triangle, which doesn't need a "traditional PG," just someone to bring up the ball and make the initiating pass.

The issue is, in the current pool, Dwight and JB are the only non-guards capable of bringing up the ball. And we don't usually train non-guards to bring up the ball and facilitate. Cone's trying it with Malonzo, Gabe's a good secondary handler, and Oftana and Navarro are bringing it up in transition situations. Quiambao's training to do it too. However, we might need to train more non-guards to bring up the ball.

Bolick's defense will be a concern, but it's easier to hide a guard on defense. Thing is, only Dwight and Newsome are the off-guards in the pool that can competently defend in the international level.

                            • In my own personal observation, I think Gabe Norwood would be a good defensive coach someday.

starting in the youth level I think he would be decent as an AC for now specifically on skills training specializes on defense minus his tentativeness in offense.

I think he is fully aware of that chink in his armor.

oh dear..I also miss coach Freddie Abuda, he could also be a good AC for the youth squad with the same philosophy of Gabe

his nose for the ball, those not in the stats thing(the in-betweens) during his SMB days are one of the best I've seen as a young basketball fan during that time.

                              • OT: Mr. Suzara, where did you find that info that volleyball is the number 1 sport right now in the Philippines? PVL might beat PBA in terms of viewership but as a sport? It’s not easy to replace a sport that is already part of the culture for centuries…
