That's my biggest reservation on having Bennie as first choice NP after JB. We're thin on bigs who can defend as well. We're going to rely on Kai's development on defense and AJ's health. To an extent, Carl and Quiambao too, since Cone says that he's going to push the two of them on defense.

If we can't get an additional defensive big, we will have to prevent dribble penetration if AJ's injured and Kai sits, or hope scheme is enough. Otherwise, we might need to win shootouts.

His performance against AUSNZ, West Asian teams and China will be the litmus test.

He holds his own against those bigs then my doubts are stifled.

That said, I don’t ever wanna see Bennie and Junemar on the same floor. Feels that is a disaster waiting to happen.

If our team can win shootouts against Aussie, NZ, Lebanon, China, Japan, Iran, and SoKor, I can have a bit more confidence in our team winning with an offense-first mindset.

I mean, I've repeatedly said this before, but we have been at our best when our defense was good. When we sucked on defense, we mostly lost against good teams (heck even against teams like Kazakhstan and Indonesia), even if we were good on offense at the time. SoKor 2017 (118-86; 44-66 OppFG, 16-21 Opp3PT, 22 OppFTA), Lebanon 2017 (106-87; 34-67 OppFG, 8-19 Opp3PT, 37 OppFTA), Kazakhstan 2018 (92-88; 28-49 OppFG, 12-23 Opp3PT, 34 Opp FTA), Indonesia 2022 (85-81; 26-55 OppFG, 13-31 Opp3PT, 25 OppFTA), among others.

I lean more on continuity and scheme as major parts of a 5-man defense than individual player's abilities. I get where you're coming from tho, so i guess we just have different defensive philosophies. If it's chot reyes or tab baldwin as coach, Boatwright wouldn't be a good fit either.

I mean, I think scheme won't really matter if a team doesn't have the personnel to cover for their teammates. That's why I think we need good defenders at key positions, which I think are a big 2/3 (Dwight) or a full-time 3 (Gabe, Navarro), and 4 (Ping, AJ) or 5 (Douthit, Ange, even Blatche). Just fill two of those four possible spots with good defenders, and the scheme would be much smoother.

This is really a nail on Ange's chance of ever playing in Gilas again,he won't even considered for anything not even the Jones Cup I believe,might as well take the his home country's offer to play for their NT if he really wants to play in any FIBA level basketball.

Let's see after JB retires, which will be a couple years from now at the latest.

But i don't like the name "ALAS PILIPINAS"... It sounds "MALAS" or unfortunate team... Another thing i discovered is that Australia in volleyball is not powerhouse team... unlike in basketball.... Why is that? So that means all sports Australia is already competing in Asia... Even in football, They are not powerhouse... It's only basketball that Australia are powerhouse...

Eh? Australia is one of the big 5 of Asian Football.

They have consistently qualified for the WC.

They are not as strong as UEFA and CONMEBOL teams but they’re still punching above their weight. Especially if you consider the average Aussie's first choice sport is Rugby.

Alas Filipinas is okay.

Much prefer it than Azkals. Really glad the PFF dropped that stupid monicker.

But last AFC, they lose to Jordan… it’s only basketball that Australia is truly powerhouse… in football, Australia is very beatable… in U23, they also lose to Indonesia… so it’s invalid for some fans say Australia should go out in Asian competitions because all sports Australia is now competing in Asia… In other sports, No other country bashing Australia to go out in Asian competitions… It just only basketball…

It’s on government how they invest in sports… here in the Philippines, our government has little to none in terms of investment in sports, unless if you are winning such as Obiena or Diaz… take At look at our baseball team… no one noticing that we are top teams in Asia… no one is investing in baseball… we could have been in the level of Japan if we are investing in baseball…

aside from baseball, bowling, football, billiards, lawn tennis, swimming and boxing whom I think are very natural to Filipinos.

another team sports that I think are very much perfect to us pinoy is the indoor Floorball where height and heft are really a non-factor.

the natural Agility, Speed and Fleet footed are just one of the core factors of the sport and we had lot's of those in our DNA.

I won't be surprise if we could become a multiple world champion on this discipline moving forward because of those traits I've mentioned.

Investment on Sports..we are going there but we need more.

MANILA, Philippines – The fast-paced and fast-growing sport of floorball will be in full display when the Philippines hosts the Men’s Floorball Championships Asia-Oceania Qualifiers from May 21-25 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Eight countries are in the fold, including Australia, New Zealand, China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines. The top three finishers will qualify to the World Floorball Championships set in Sweden in December.

Still soft but contineus to be an active help defender. He has improved his lateral movement and from time to time is able to guard imports out on the perimeter. He can knockdown the occasional three and has improved his abiility to finish around the rim off drop passes

What is the rules of floorball? Is that related to field hockey?

Offense can improve… his shooting mechanics is OK… just need more practice in their off season grind…
