When he was in Gilas he was very agile with good laterals and closed out well on shooters out on the perimeter but in the MPBL he has slowed down gets blown by guards during pick and roll switches and show little to no effort in closing out on shooters. Another is his outside shooting now isnt as efficient as compared to his Gilas days.
Agree. I would rather see Tamayo play in the PBA D-league (meron pa bang D-league ngayon?) than see him play in the MPBL. I agree with you bro, more often, playing in a low level league would cause a promising player to develop bad habits.

    • I must have missed something, but are there no more takers from KBL/B. League on Carl? Or are teams from those leagues no longer allowed to sign new players at this juncture of their respective seasons?

        • If he has the means just go to the USA and train there for 4 months straight.

If the rumors are true that Alex is UST bound, Konov to Gilas is not farfetched.

From his interview with he Shoot First crew he said that there are offers for him to sign to b league playoff contending teams but opt not to since he needs to get familiarize to the system. Tamayo is in a win-win situation right now as he got his full contract amount from Ryukyu. He said that he wants to be at his most conditioned form ever so Bluenote's suggestion of training in the US is a good choice. Money is also not a problem since he still has the bleague contract money. In a few months there will be lots of players training for the NBA draft and who knows if gets better, an NBA summer league invite might be possible.

              • I'm no fan of the Argentinian football team (I like Messi though) but wish we had an anthem like theirs during Gilas games.

Their song "muchachos" is so catchy at gaganahan ka talagang suportahan team mo.

Any song writers here? How would you write a Gilas anthem that fans could sing in-game?

Just attending the camps is a win win already,he will pick up good training habits,if sign for a Summer League that's just a bonus.

                    • Demisana and Gagate, what's the real height of this guys?Kobe was measured at 6'8 at 14 years old and alot of speculatin he will be at least 6'10,I can't believed that he didn't grow at all, they still listed him at 6'8,but in some interview during his Batang Gilas stint he said he's already 6'9,Gagate's height sometimes range from 6'9-6'11,what's the real deal?

Here's what I'm pretty sure of - there's no way Gagate's height is 6-foot-10 or 6-foot-11. At best, Galgate is only 6-foot-8 in my opinion.

                        • You want to build a solid platform for our nt, you cant afford cheapening the supplies. Kapag dinaya ang kalidad at timpla ng semento at kabilya, hindi tatagal ang plataporma.. The nt needs 5 reliables for every position. Basketball injuries and schedules can be brutal on player availability. That is, you need a 25-man nt pool with players tough and talented enough for top asian wars. You can carry mostly 2 of the 5 best per position for top fiba tourhaments.

So, gagate, demisana or konov are not there yet. There is no way that these guys wont even look very bad yet against aussie and arab bigs. Year-round pre-season tournaments, pro-am friendlies against pba teams, and at least the physical conditioning regimen for la salle, ateneo and up senior ballers should be the minimum development activities. San miguel owns several basketball training arenas that are available year-round. Young and veteran players should regularly and frequently play there against each other. Demisana and gagate must look good at least against carino, laput or slaughter. If these youths can outrun in a 100m dash, outscore in mid and long distance shooting, and outvert jump, those veteran pba guards, they should be good for at least 5 years in nt roles.

                          • Quinito suggests Baltazar, Heading, Abando and Tolentino as inclusions to the Cone's Gilas core

With what Gilas showed in the first window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers, coach Tim Cone is excited about the future. Clearly, there’s reason to be optimistic. “The scary part is this team can get a whole lot better,” he said.

If the whole contract in Ryukyu is paid is true then he should..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

PBA draft might schedule after OQT, and new season might schedule after Olympics… So Tamayo needs to play elsewhere before June Gilas session… Even Brownlee had to play overseas just to be in shape in June… If no overseas offers, then playing MPBL is better than being Jobless, just to be in shape… 4 months of not playing competitive basketball will stop his progress…
