  • What I want to see is for Kai to be matched up with the centers of China, Jordan, Saudi Arabia. New Zealand & Japan. I'm confident, Kai can hold his own against these centers.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

NZ and Japan I'd give the edge to Kai. The others I'm not really sure. Who are there available bigmen again?

For Saudi Arabia its 6-foot-11 Mohammed Alsuwailem, for Jordan its 7-foot Ahmad Al Dwairi (whom Ange Kouame outplayed in the championship game of last year's Asian Games).

        • I'm confident Kai will hold his own (not necessarily outplay them) against Alsuwailem & Al Dwairi.

Japan has an NP center right? NZ also has a tall center? Kai seems to have improved. But yes 6’5-6’6 centers are not a true test.

It's like Junmar Fajardo registering 25 pts. & 15 rebounds against 6-foot-6 local centers of a PBA team. There's not much to brag about.

              • Kai is getting tbis numbers innthe same number of touches in yokohama and judging with hawkinson.. he can be handy but kai can be productive if he post up alaska man..we just need browblee or edu handle him in box out on offensive end..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
                1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

I remember Al Dwairi. He could post some problems.

I imagine already Kai playing in the PBA, those Taiwanese and HK bigs are same level as Belga, Erram, Sanggalang, etc… and we saw Kai dominates them… If he plays here, he can match easily Junmar’s achievements since no one in the PBA can match his size, skills and he’s better defender than Junmar… He might average 28 pts, 16 rebs, 7 assist and 5 blocks per game in the PBA… That’s too easy for Kai…

The 4 best local Asian bigs as of today are Zhou Qi , Wang Zhelin, Muhammad Al Suwailem and Ahmed Al Dwairi… Zhou Qi is fragile and always injured, Wang Zhelin is a bust in FIBA competitions, Al Suwailem is slow defending faster bigs, Sometimes Nestor Garcia pull him out when he is facing faster players… Al Dwairi is the legit opponent of Kai here in Asia… other notable bigs are Kim Jung Kyu of Korea, Jakrawan of Thailand, Al Khafaji of Iraq, Hu Juqiu and Yang Hansen of China….

Can't really say they're better than Belga etc but I remember Billymams holding Douthit's injured wrist, tall guys getting roughed up and definitely more physical than the NBL. They'd make it hard for Kai or at least make him think twice about humiliating them. Even JF had to bulk up to be more effective in the PBA

The problem will be how will Belga, Erram or Sanggalang defend Kai when he taking perimeter shots… Kai has also face up game, Junmar just only develop his midrange lately…. He can just out shoot Belga and east two points… Of course they can be physical on Kai to erase the discrepancy on height advantage… but the thing Kai has basketball IQ when he will attack or outsmarting his opponent…

When kai was matched up against HK guards in the perimeter, I actually blame our defensive strategy. Kai should not be in the position to be outside the paint in defense

That's not his strong point in defense, just too slow to recover and once the guards, got his rhytmn down on the paint they start attacking the rim successfully. It will be interesting too in the Olympic Qualifier how he's gonna fare against real big men that are mobile and will get in his face, would he wilt if he gets dunked on and yelled at after a few times or just take the beating and make the best of it.
