If I may add, the process of getting dual citizenship can really be tedious/bothersome for some people (even if it's really just 2 trips to the consulate). However, there are lawyers/paralegals who can be hired to do the legwork to make it convenient. It's best that they are hired for the really elite prospects. It saves so much more money (and lost time) compared to how much we would have to spend if we go the "exemption" rule later on. I'd say for any kid 6'5 and above before age 16, automatically provide this type of service.
I agree, If the SBP invests a bit on helping top prospects get the proper paperwork. For example, getting the necessary requirements here in the motherland. That would be a great help. I think Fil Am Nation also helps with passport acquisition but it would much better if it was the SBP.

Im confident he will be a reliable defensive presence in the paint in the coming years.

We have to be patient and trust the process.

Whatever the case, we need a partner at 4 to help Kai on defense if we're gonna expose him as much as possible. Denver had Aaron Gordon to help out Jokic (who's a better defender than advertised despite clear deficiencies in speed and length). We'll need that Aaron Gordon for Kai for now, whether it's AJ or the NP, which right now is JB.

Whether it's a 3/4 or a 4/5, our new NP has to help anchor the defense in case of AJ's injury. But we'll worry about that after the Asia Cup, since we have a good defender in JB, and hopefully AJ stays healthy throughout this run. I'll concede to deku's point that we'll need to expose Kai first as much as possible and see if he can improve his PnR and team defense (he can't do worse than June Mar, and he'll have Brownlee and hopefully AJ to help him out). His rim protection is good, though, and his post defense got better.

The way you format your post is extremely painful to read. It looks like a bunch of computer codes not meant to be comprehend.

Its a commonly used strategy to get the opposing big out in the perimeter because more often than not, guards can always blow by bigs gurading them in the perimeter. When kai was matched up against HK guards in the perimeter, I actually blame our defensive strategy. Kai should not be in the position to be outside the paint in defense

My take is, when it is only Asia-Oceania level, I'm confident Malonzo is very much serviceable for Gilas. Things would be diffrrent when we're talking world class level of competition. Well, a lot of our players who are good enough in Asian level competition struggle eventually pag world class competition na.

Malonzo for me is a combo forward but more of a four. Oftana on the other hand is really a natural small forward wiith better handles than Malonzo. But for me, both are vital components of Gilas. The idea is to expose them to the FIBA game & other international competitions as much as possible to get them more used to the FIBA game environment.
Malonzo is replaceable.. Abando will surely replace him..

sorry how old Sage this year? 19? 20? still a good chance to process a document even though the door for the possible exemption in the next cycle(2027-2032) are beginning to close.

                    same with James Flippin.

I’ve always monitoring the progress of our own mighty ducks hopefully they will be promoted to Division 2 along the way.

I think Fil-Nation are also helping in the processing of documents of some of the up and coming NHL guys who can reinforce our team moving forward

(UPDATE) THE Philippine national ice hockey team continues to roll in the 2024 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships Division 3B on Saturday by defeating Iran 14-2 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

                    • So by the premise above, i think 1. PG should be 60-64 ranges, 62Heading 64BRP(any special Sub-60 or what other referered as midgets,Bahay, RJ SJ Lastimosa will forever be excluded???)
                      2. Shooting guard 62Abando should proved himself more to be considered. or paired him with PG BRP or with Dwight
                      3. SF iwill be with 67Mason, 66Lopez n 67Konov.
                      4. PF/C Naturalized 2-way player is a must, 67Mike Phillips will always be considered(New Pingris),
kung si CTC pa by 2027; posible lineup will be
                      60Iskati 62Heading (64BRP/60CJ)
                      64Dwight 65KQ 66Lopez (65Oftana)
                      67Konov 67Mason (66Malonzo)
                      610 Wdu 67Mike 67Carl (610Boatwright)
                      73Kai 611Kouame
                      debateble:
                      CJ vs Heading and BRP
Oftana and Malonzo vs Lopez and Mason and Konov
                      Kouame vs Boatwright

Huh? Okay, let's pretend there is a universe where screening and setting picks do not exist...

What happens when the other team's 5 can score from outside? Is Kai supposed to block outside shots from inside the paint? That would be amazing.

                        • In fairness to Chot.....his system of different players every window opened up to a lot of players to have opportunity to play in Japan, Korea etc.
It also opened up to many players like KQ playing in Gilas etc,

Without this, CTC might still stick to the players he know which is all from the pBA

                          • Its so refreshing to see our national team play like this with improved off the ball movement and crisp passing. Chinese Taipei was forced to pack the paint to defend Sotto and in turn afforded Gilas some open looks in the perimeter. What I also like about their system right now is they encourage players to shoot from mid range rather than kick out for the three or drive down heavily defended lane, heck even Japeth is shooting mid range jumpers. And from what I saw CJ Perez needs to adjust his play, he is over dribbling and forcing too many shots.

                            • The taiwan game showed the true fiba strength of the kaiju. He completely destroyed the taiwanese confidence in both offense and defense in the key. The game stats showed the taiwanese are scared of kai, and that they have a very good reason to be scared of him. And that is without his big partners in crime in the paint like fajardo and edu. Or future aggressive partner bigs like a kouame, tolentino or that atlanta hawks power forward.

The size, skills and quickness of our 2-way forwards and guards also stumped the taiwanese coach and his players. They were reduced to fouling more and gambling on outside shooting.

Well, these gilas games should silence pinoy fanbois who doth love too much nba guard play and pba midget ball, which mentally doomed coachot's usefulness. Now fanbois say that kai somehow cannot stop a 3point shooting big. So, who is this fantastic big who can shoot over kai with impunity?

I said this before, that in Asian basketball level having a skilled 7-foot big guy like a Kai Sotto will always be a significant advantage, especially if we are up against a team whose centers aren't that good or are about 5 to 6 inches shorter than Kai. I think about 70% of all the teams in Asia-Oceania have centers who can't match up with Kai.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV
