How true Amos & Abando is being considered as reserved? I'm hoping Lopez & one of SJ or RJ will also be considered. TC should also find a 7ft NP for our team if they don't like Kwam. We'll never know what could happen in the future, especially with the injuries of EDU plus the aging Junmar.Samahan ng mga Bopol ng Pilipinas

I trust the coaching staff on JB, though. Can carry our team on offense, and can anchor our defense. That's the important part, he can cover for Kai and June Mar on defense.

Tim a fan of the Iranian program
Cone explains compact pool
Cone said the Iran program also had a compact pool similar to how Gilas is doing it now in the run-up to the Fiba Asia Cup 2026 qualifiers.
For Cone, having a smaller pool would lead to a lot of cooperation with the basketball stakeholders in the country.
“That was the idea. We come in, we have less preparation time but less disruption and the preparation time will be cumulative. In other words, we will use the first window to prepare us for the second window, and so forth,” said Cone.

We cannot afford to have two defensive liabilities at 4 and 5. Scottie, Dwight, Oftana, Newsome, and maybe Malonzo (if his defense improves) would have to make efforts to prevent drives to the basket (which will lead to open layups or open threes) if we have poor defenders at 4 and 5.
Sorry, I really cannot forget the poor defensive efforts in 2017 against SoKor (blown out by 32, allowed 118 points on 62% from the field, 76% from 3) and Lebanon, even China, in 2018 against Kazakhstan, in 2019 throughout the whole World Cup, and in 2022 against Indonesia. I don't want a repeat of those losses due to poor defense. Also, our best finishes tended to come with good defense (2013 and 2015 FIBA Asia Championship silvers, and this Asiad's gold).

Pinoy fans won't simply accept any excuse from a Gilas coach everytime Gilas loses. Excuses such as "this is just a learning process for the team" or "winning isn't everything, we will learn more from losing than from winning" won't suffice to Pinoy fans.
It's somewhat a curse for any Gilas coach that basketball is so popular in the Philippines.Originally posted by Giannis34GOD View PostI understand that since Basketball is a big religion already in the PHL... but the real purpose of tune up matches is to give exposure to the other guys, especially young players, creating chemistry and masteries all the system created by their coaches...Originally posted by JAMSKIE View PostYes bro. Ganoon naman talaga dapat. In friendly or tune up games, winning shouldn't be the main objective. But since most Pinoy basketball fans are unforgiving, the national team coach should find the right balance between experiment/development/exposure to young players and winning even in those friendly ortune up games which in reality have no bearing. In short our Gilas coach is always pressured to win every game, mapa friendly or exhibition or tuneup games lang yan or actual tournament games.Originally posted by Giannis34GOD View PostEspecially with most bashers… they think they know basketball (POWcast Billy Manzano)… hahahhahahahaha…

Better if we get a defender so that the paint doesn't get attacked as much, and it makes the perimeter defenders' lives easier.
