With Edu will not play and Junmar might rest, Kai needs to do more for this window… while it looks Brownlee will do some small ball 5 if Kai sits, since he can’t play longer minutes due to stamina problem… Or Tamayo will play 5 too if needed…

for me I am more concern on our boys and girls division because they will be the one who will harvest whatever seedlings coach Tim had planted now up to 2027.
This early years of Tim Cone era will likely go thru “asa kay Brownlee” stretch before starting to learn the system before 2027….

      • Japeth joins practice, Edu also present, probably to observe.

Yeah. I think Japeth will replace Edu at least for this window as the latter recovers from a knee injury. Good that despite not expected to play in the 1st window, Edu still attended the 1st practice. Edu realizes that he needs to learn & assimilate coach Tim's even if he can't join the scrimmage or practice.

This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

We need to risk manage Edu. We can't expect him to be healthy and available every time we need him. Cone needs to add to his 12. Don't tell me he will pull Japeth everytime Edu is not available. TC is playing it by ear right now. But I don't think this is the only time Edu will not be available. And everytime he is not the clamor will grow for TC to add to his 12 and to finally retire Japeth for good.

All the more that we need a big that can anchor the defense to succeed Brownlee. Whether it's Ange or another 4/5 guy, as long as he anchors the D.

              • The problem is outside of Sotto, Edu, Tamayo and Baltazar we dont have any more young notable agile and tall players. Mike Phillips could shore up the frontline if he gets cleared to be a local but beyond that gilas doesnt have anyone else in the pipeline it seems.

And to think they would enlist an old Japeth as a replacement while they could have taken a young player like an Arana, Baltazar or Amos to fill in the roster.

Its Cone's team now,he would get replacements from PBA who knows his system no matter how old,or not FIBA level skills,he trusts his system will overcome the shortcomings,he proved it in the Asian Games, not until he gets a series of failure, until then no one would dare to call him out,as long as his winning percentage is acceptable to SBP and fans then its his call, even if he fails on the big games as long as he keeps winning in Asia he's the GOAT until the end of the contract.

                  • I think if only coach Tim can have his way, he would have tapped Baltazar as AJ Edu's replacement in the 1st window. But we can sense somebody or certain people don't want Baltazar in Gilas & we know why.

Wala akong makitang dahilan why a Justin Baltazar wouldn't be a Gilas prospect when we all know that Phi basketball doesn't have the luxury of having enough options at the 5 & 4 spots.

Come OQT CTC will have a rude awakening, that JB is nkt a 4 and the only reason why he was a passable 4 was Ange, both served as anchors on D. Gilas can easily defeat the low tiered Asian teams, but once we face the asian heavyweights (Aus,NZ, Skor, China, Japan, Iran, Lebanon) and those Euro and Americas teams, we mkght have Yeng Guiao 2019 results

Yeah, Tim Cone will be in a very rude awakening once Gilas faces the teams in the OQT and New Zealand in November.

Lets see. He cant mess this up any worse than Chot. Against NZ, I dont think it will be worse than that 46-point beatdown with Vicinic at the helm.

JB was actually projected as a tweener in the States, and he played 4 in college. Spent time in both forward positions in France. Different context in FIBA, as only one NP is allowed, and none of our bigs other than AJ are great defenders, so JB has to pick up the slack on defense as well as carry our offense.

Let's just hope AJ's healthy against NZ and in the Asia Cup. After JB retires, recall Ange or get a two-way defensive anchor 4/5.

Yes Sir, whether we like it or not especially when the going gets tough.

still hoping AK34 may somehow get his exemption thru the PBA,

Balti and Heading minus some political bickerings may somehow sneak-in in a way.

Yeah in a way but heck they already defeated a Jordan team with 2 naturalized players.. New zealand a cant breeze past Jordan..One things for sure, if they will face a rude awakening they will have a good comeback thats the difference of this program from the previous one..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
                                1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.
