Playing defense based on a scheme (especially tab’s defenseive scheme) is really about knowing where to go and being able to go there on time. For us to utilize clarkson’s defensive potential, it is imperative for him to familiarize himself of our scheme and build chemistry with his teammates. One of the reasons why for me, SBP’s next priority should be to have clarkson join a training camp or two with the gilas pool to really build that chemistry and familiarity with our schemes both offensively and defensively.

Would this be even realized? While main FIBA games are during NBA off season, the Gilas training are often held before the off season. Even the windows tend to by in season. The only "realistic" way JC could join Gilas on time is a last minute hugot.

Remember JC comes with a hefty insurance bill but one that decreases every year. No idea if SBP/MVP has to pay JC's insurance for practice though but if he somehow plays OQT for example thats insuring a 40 million dollar contract. We dont know how willing MVP is to keep paying for insurance.

There are ways to raise funds to cover the insurance. Holding an MVP cup as tuneup games with clarkson in the lineup can draw crowds and ad revenue. Im sure there will be other hurdles aside from the insurance bill, and these are the reasons why i mentioned that sbp should make this their next big priority. Just aligning the schedules wont be enough, this should be prepared months in advance with constant talks to make sure everything is ironed out.

I've just finished watching the 1st, 2nd & 3rd quarters (walang 4th quarter eh sayang) of Phi vs. Iran game in 2007 Jones Cup. Hamed Hadadi was I think 22 years of age while Samad Bahrami was 24 at that time. Hindi pa talaga ganoon ka galing at ka lakas si Hadadi at that time. I think Asi did a good job defending Hadadi at the post. But Samad Bahrami was already very good at that time. In fact Samad & his brother the late Aydin Bahrami formed a solid tandem at the forward positions with Samad playing the 3 & Aydin playing the 4. Iran actually had good size 4's & 3's and I can't help but envy that team. These forwards can handle the ball well & shoot from the outside. From what I recall, we won this game but binawian tayo ng Iran in the much more important game which was in the 2007 FIBA Asia Championship. Iran coach Rajko Toroman piloted Iran to the gold medal in the 2007 FIBA Asia Championship.

I think most of Iran's players at that time were in their early & mid-20's which was similar to our current Gilas cadet pool. So in a sense, parang halos cadet pool ng Iran yung nakaharap nating team in 2007.

Judging from how Hadadi played in that game (though 3 quarters lang yung nakita ko), I'm confident to say that an 18-year old Kai Sotto is more skilled than the 22-year old Hahadi. I want to emphasize that I'm only referring to "purely" skills. I would like to reiterate that basketball skills & basketball capabilities are two different things. I strongly believe that Kai would become the more skilled player compared to Hadadi. Kai's footwork & post moves are obviously better than Hadadi. Kai's shooting & ball handling are also better than Hadadi. Though I believe Hadadi is the physically stronger & tougher player.

2022 schedule for fiba windows is already released

With the pandemic still raging on and likely raging next year, chances that everything will be rescheduled is high.

Lately, a GS player who was vaccinated still tested positive with COVID. This means that vaccines do not guarantee 100% protection but it likely will help making syptoms less severe.

This pandemic will likely last a decade or more.

Anyway, Kai for sure have his own nutritionist, and weight expert ( or whatever u called it)

I hopr Kai will be in bubble next week or next next week. He needs to be able to adapt to the system.

I feel Kai, Dwight, and maybe Kouame will and should be the main scorers in thid window fot gilas.

Korea will be a tough opponent. This is the first true test on where is gilas now.

A terrible lost will show that the cadets still lacks experience and development. ( Itvwill be useful in future though)

Losing to korea by a narrow margin, or Winning on both games against them, in the other hand will solidify the program of taking cadets instead of pba.

This is Tab’s proof of concept. It s one way of saying we dont need the pba. If and only if they win against korea. Just 1 win is enough.

Tab may be able to get away with that in the tournament next month. As for the bigger ones ,perhaps not. The best ones will always be in the PBA so long as it exists. Tab can keep on recruiting the best amateurs, only to lose them to the PBA after a couple of years. He has to rethink things, IMO

The problem is, how will the PBA cooperate with the national team program? The problem is, based on the scheduling and the way some teams are holding out their players, has always been getting their cooperation. That's why there's a Gilas draft and an all-amateur national team.

We need to send our most promising players to leagues which are friendly to the FIBA calendar, at least for major tournaments. That is, if the PBA wouldn't even give the bare minimum of support.
