hopefully, if someone read this latest post of ours and had the official email, FB, X accounts on any platform of the new ED we could actually sent an official request as a fan if they will re-consider his exemption. the challenge here is that what if there's a serious amount of Administrative fee that are needed

I think this is also(?) one of the main reason why they aren't warm and fuzzy on this..I hope I'm wrong.

the bottomline here is that, were still THIN in the 4 and 5 spots..

we badly need some extra ceiling.

I think a backup defensive anchor at the 4/5 is a bigger need than a stretch 4 at the moment. That is, unless/until we get exemptions for Ange, Mike Phillips, and BGR. We can't have AJ as the lone defensive anchor in our pool, our frontline will be exposed when he's not there.

rather they use the word "domestic league" on that specific outline of that provision.
Still same, since our "Only" Major Domestic league that is under by SBP for FIBA is PBA... Other leagues such as MPBL, PSL, D-League, etc.. are minor leagues.. If PBA doesn't recognized Kouame as local Filipino citizen, then why FIBA will give Kouame local status? It makes sense... So blame PBA for not giving Kouame his possible chance getting exemption case.. Even minor leagues MPBL and PSL didn't give Kouame a chance...

Are you not satisfied on Kai? If 100% healthy he can defend... I know he has problems in rebounding, But basketball is a team game... He will learn how to get more rebounds... He did excellent against Lebanon in 4th window qualifiers.. He played more than 30 mins and he give guys like Arakji, Haidar hard time scoring when he was on the floor bro... Give him confidence... I don't know why posters here not trusting Kai, As thinking he's worst than Greg or Feilh.. In Asia, he can give other teams a hard time... I hope Kai will prove doubters wrong here, especially against Taiwan.. I'm sure CTC will give much needed confidence...

              Sir Tukayo,

we had our own personal interpretation on the word "domestic league" indicated in that FIBA's Internal Regulations..no argument there..that's your call.

as for me personally it means it covers all level of leagues, be it major, minor, collegiate among others hence it ain't specifically indicated, that's my call.

the bottomline here is that amongst the naturalized guys, AK34 had a valid reason to be treated as a local in the same breath as those who played or currently playing in the minor league as you mentioned.

compared to Douthit, Blatche and JB, the dude was literally a product of Philippine basketball development since 17 or 18 yrs. old same with the other FSA kids like UP's Favour Onoh and NUNS's Collins Akowe if ever they decided to be a Filipino by legislation.

as of the moment majority of us Filipinos are still hardline insulares minded and doesn't know(?) and doesn't want(?) to fully understand the essence and wisdom of Global neighborhood without Borders.

                Sir Armir,

I think the PBA should update it's existing by-laws in eligibility to be able to cope up with the current situation, that's the key.

as for the other ineligibles like Kamaka Hepa, QMB and CJ Lane, playing in the PBA is a start but we have to lower the expectation unless they acquired their PH Passport before the age of 23 not beyond that..a slight window of opportunity after 10 years.

as for the likes of James Laput, Xavier Lucero, Chris Koon, Kai Ballugay and Luis Villegas there's a much wider window of opportunity after 8 to 9 years because they've already studied and played college here and playing for the PBA is a good merit as well.

as for Keith Datu and BGR the case of Thailand's Lamb, Fred Lish and Moises Morgan is worth an inspiration if they want to exempted despite obtaining their respective document beyond 23 yrs. old.

I'm confident in Kai's ability to catch lobs and provide vertical spacing. I'm not yet confident in his ability to anchor a defense against strong Asian teams. He has to show that ability consistently first.

In these windows, we can give Kai the needed trust, except for the NZ games. But come the WC windows, if Kai doesn't improve on anchoring the defense, he's better backing up better defensive bigs or next to AJ, especially against Jordan, Iran, SoKor, China, Japan, Lebanon, Aussie, and NZ.

As for silencing my doubts about his ability to lead and anchor a defense, I hope he does.

Its always the PBA that's the bump on the road, its time for them to get on with the times.Even if the inelligible can't get to play in Gilas FIBA sanctioned tournament, they can still use them in SEA GAMES,Jones Cup,and other minor tournaments or even get them suited up with Strong Group, anything just to put a Pinoy stamp on them. The future is bright with up and coming stars on the 2/3 positions its the 1/4/5 that's still shaky.

                      Sir Armir,

that is why many people including me are excited about the coming NBTC tourney because some local teams from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will parade kids with length that has potentials especially those from Pampanga and let's see who will come over from the teams from the West Coast and the East Coast, I heard that there are several blue chippers that are committed(?) to play with the potential of being the next Jalen Green(I hope it becomes a reality) same with the Canadian teams and European teams, as for Sir Dave's team from down under well he mentioned some potentials as well.

the good thing is that the number of girls team that will participate are increasing compared to last year.

it's interesting new format...they're introducing the U14, U16 and U19 for this edition.

Ah,this is in line of what I was envision when I say putting the Pinoy stamp, early on the minds of the young overseas Pinoy players, after playing against the locals and other overseas teams, this kids will feel some camaraderie with the local kids and I'm betting some of thiese kids doesn't take alot of convincing to get a Philippine passport.I'm glad to finally see what the young Euro's can bring in the tournament,it certainly will elevate it.

                          Sir Armir,

if my memory serves me right,

I remember last year when some of those from the media outlets interviewed coach Cris Gopez and Harvard bound Nina Emnace that majority of the kids on their Fil-Nation roster are already PH Passport holder meaning the new sets of players who will be playing, majority of them already had their docs.

I hope Euro kids like the younger Edu's and Dalph's younger bro. who are now carving a name for himself playing from his Kuya's former youth team playing against top U15 teams may somehow find a way to join as well(hopefully).

blue chippers from the US like Dylan Harper, Vyc Miller, JJ Mandaquit, Lino Marks and Jayden Harper playing for the U19 team for the coming 2024 NBTC tourney that would be interesting.

the next big question is are they committed to come over to dethrone the defending 4x(?) winner NUNS with Collin Akowe as their trump card.

let see..they haven't release an official line-up yet.

My basis here is what happened to Tyler Dorsey of Greece, he played for Greek team in Euroleague and their Greek league but when Dorsey left Greece to play in the NBA, the residency stops.. when Greek federation ask FIBA to his exemption, FIBA didn’t granted his exemption.. the reason why they have to choose between him and new NP Walker… And you look the players who granted exemption, all of them have connected to their main league… Greg Slaughter and Chris Newsome played in the PBA very long… Lish, Morgan and now Lamb played longer years in TBSL (main Thai league), Jawato played longer in IBL and played for Indonesian team in ABL, still counted as residency because he represented Indonesian team.. Abbasi granted exemption because aside he was living in Taiwan since 8, He played for a Taiwanese pro club.. Kouame had a chance if he stays little bit longer, but PBA didn’t let him to stay until he will get that exemption case… it stops his residency when he decided to play in France.. he might represent Philippines there by heart, but he played for a French league… that is a no no for FIBA

Especially considering our need for a defensive big. AJ's our only FIBA-eligible 4/5 who can competently anchor our defense and protect the paint at this point. The other competent anchors are two of our NP's, Ange and JB.

Kai keeps this "being a presence inside" up, we'll have one less defensive issue to worry about. We will still need a 4/5, but we could worry less about having an NP that can anchor the defense.

Although, we could also keep Ange once June Mar and JB retire. Can never have enough bigs.
