  • I stand to be corrected.

AK34 are already ripe for exemption counting the SEASONS he played for several off-season sponsored tourney like the PBA D-League, Flying V-League, PSL and other provincial tournament like in Cebu and Davao aside from his maximizing his 5 years college eligibility at UAAP.

Also, some international tourney representing the Philippines like Jones Cup, SEA Games and Asian Games

I think it's almost or more than 10 years already.

The SBP knows this and may just opt for avoiding a rout.

The upcoming ACQ window is winnable as long as they don't fuck it up.
They can treat it as an early test of the competitiveness of their lineup. Didnt Tabs Gilas do decently in the OQT? Without Dwight they almost defeated Serbia but was blown out by 20 plus pts by DR.

        That was Tab.

With CTC, I'm not so sure even though I know he is a notch or two above CCR.

Even tho he's playing in Europe right now he's still repreent himself as a citizen of the Philippines,so that should count too.

I don't have high hopes of using JB as a Draymond Green type player in the WC level. Yes, to a degree Green was successful in the Olympics. But there are many differences: 1) Green is a sturdy 6'7 with 7'2 wingspan. Green was not even the starter. Adebayo is around 6'9. JB at 6'5 or 6'6 won't cut it. 2) US has 6'11-6'9 SFs who can play PF like Durant and Tatum. 3) US had a lockdown PG in 6'4 Jrue Holiday.

Also, in the Asian games JB was mostly coasting on defense and saving his energy for offense. I can't imagine JB banging bodies with the international giants and keying our offense at the same time. I think the only guy who can do that was prime Lebron. But he didn't. The only guy I saw who was the main playmaker and main defender of his team was Andrei Blatche in 2014. Blatche was a 6'11 point center far from JB's 6'5-6'6 stature.

oh yes Sir Armir, exactly, I hope FIBA should also consider that.

hopefully, if someone read this latest post of ours and had the official email, FB, X accounts on any platform of the new ED we could actually sent an official request as a fan if they will re-consider his exemption. the challenge here is that what if there's a serious amount of Administrative fee that are needed

I think this is also(?) one of the main reason why they aren't warm and fuzzy on this..I hope I'm wrong.

the bottomline here is that, were still THIN in the 4 and 5 spots..

we badly need some extra ceiling.

Is that Al Panlilio’s fault or PBA stupid rule fault? PBA is anti - naturalized players agenda hampered possible Ange’s exemption…

Not that case bro.. FIBA only counts domestic leagues… example is Tyler Dorsey of Greece, Greek federation fighting for his eligibility as local but FIBA denied it… his residency was not enough to convince FIBA to be a local player… even Mexico’s Juan Toscano Anderson, Mexican federation fight for his exemption but FIBA denied it..

Nope… FIBA includes main domestic league for exemptions… Our main league is PBA… how will FIBA convince us to push Ange exemption if PBA disallowed Ange to play in the PBA as a local player… Do you think FIBA gives Ange exemption if our main league PBA doesn’t recognize Ange? You know the answer already…

I mean, even in the February 2023 window, where JB and June Mar started together, JB couldn't really cover for June Mar there, and was better off being the center in a small-ball lineup. Cone was already our defensive coordinator. We won against Lebanon that window because we out-shot them, and we lost to Jordan because of a big deficit thanks to poor defense early (we were down by 19 after the 1st quarter; Brownlee had to play almost the entire 2nd half at center). Well, this game kinds of illustrated why Brownlee fits so well. He can anchor our defense as well as carry the scoring load.

As for Tab, he had Dwight, Navarro, and Baltazar on his team in addition to Ange, playing roles similar to Oftana and Newsome. Perez is prone to blow-bys and likes to play the passing lanes. This is where a safety net behind is key. Still need good defenders at the 4 and/or 5 positions to cover.
Well, CTC has Newsome, Oftana, Malonzo, Scottie, Ramos and Brownlee as 2 way players at wings.. even Quiambao can play defense… and this is team basketball… CTC wants all of his players will play defense, not just relying on defensive bigs to cover up all defensive assignments… as we want Ange, Brownlee is the most important guy for CTC… CTC will still pick Brownlee even Lebron James as his naturalized player… that is how very valuable JB if for CTC

You replied to a comment which stated a game that had Brownlee as a defensive anchor against a top Asian team, the very reason why I'm good with him as our 1st option NP.

I'm only worried about the possibility that his replacement cannot recreate his impact on defense as an anchor.

Well as far as FIBA Internal Regulation(revised 26 March 2022), I haven't read nor seen the word "Main League" as far as provisions on Players with Two or more Nationalities, unless there's another revision after Mar 26, 2022.

rather they use the word "domestic league" on that specific outline of that provision.

There's not much choice,SMC will not have their MVP JMF,playing long minutes that it would start to affect his overall health,so we hope that Kai shows up even at 10-15 mins clips,he can help JMF in some recovery at the bench.

GIlas can really use another NP that can play the 4/5,specially if its a stretch 4,that player can easily sub if one of the bigs is not available or sub for AJ at 4,so its gonna be player that's 6'9-6'10 athletic all around player. There's really no need to get another NP to play the 3 position as of now you have two combo forwards in Balti,Tamayo, then you have the SF/SG combos of Oftana and Quiambao, for just plain 3,Navarro,soon they gonna have Lopez and Amos too and there's more in a not so distant future.I really hope SBP do Kouame right in filing a request to FIBA to consider him a local.I really want them to reach out to Kamaka Hepa even if he's going to play as a ineligible,as long as we got him to play for even just 3 years straight in the PBA,it's a start.

Frankly, it's best to use June Mar for 15 minutes max anyways due to his poor defense and also his age (he's already 34). All good.

JB's a better full-time center than either Kai or June Mar in the Asian level because of his defense.
