I trust the blogger to be honest, but since narinig lang naman nya itong issue from another source, we really can't be sure of its reliability.

Well, I hope nga its not true. We all know how important Dwight Ramos is to our national team.

    • With Al "Panlinlang" Panlilio at the helm as SBP head, SBP is starting to look like the Basketball Association of the Philippines(BAP) during the 90's to mid-2000's. BAP was ran by people who were too incompetent & played too much politics which were the reason for its disbandment & being replaced by SBP.

Not really sure it's wise throwing our best guards/ bigmen under the bus. Unless they're really confident they can win without them.
The PBA do have some depth in talent. Scottie, Perez, June Mar, Newsome, Oftana, JB (as NP), and Malonzo, Navarro, and hopefully Schonny and Tuffin. Maybe Bolick.

Thing is, the PBA guys lack rim protection with Japeth retiring, which is why we need AJ, shooting, which is what we need Parks and/or Heading for, and size and talent at the 4, which is why Carl and AJ shouldn't be thrown under the bus.

Honestly, when Vargas mentioned that detail of payment, I half-expected that the exports would have been the target, turn the crowd against the exports. And now there it is with that rumor. At least Chua is still open to our exports playing for us.

        • Cant wait for the mvp group to be ousted, say what you will against him but when push comes to shove Chua will put pride aside and do anything to get results, something mvps cronies cant seem to get over with.

          • to be fair chua is like vince mcmahon and is willing to put bitter feelings and pride aside for results (i.e. Abueva)

Panlilio and Vargas on the other hand are total @holes

vargas probably just dont want to pay the insurance premium of the exports unlike the pba players who are already paid for. Plus its their fault for creating the Kai cash monster

I think you might have had a point when you said last year you wanted SMC to manage SBP. With the way Chua's talking, he seems preferable to the current management.

Baka nagkaroon ng inggitan. Paying Kai inflated the value of guys like Dwight and AJ, who both performed better, especially in light of Kai's worse performance (albeit with a back injury). If the guy who asked for a higher fee is Dwight, he earned the right to ask for that pay, because he was our 2nd-best local in the World Cup and even the qualifiers.

Still, Vargas was an ass for that.

my only problem with chua is that he will put smc teams & the pba on a higher priority over the national team, while mvp was willing to sacrifice tnt for gilas

Vargas needs to stay away from PH sports.

anything he is involved in turns into a dumpster fire.

I say the PBA owns the present but the "exports" own the future of national team composition. I mean, it's in the PBA where majority of Gilas prospects are already in their prime, while it is in the Japan B-league & KBL where most Gilas prospects are still not in their prime & are expected to improve & develop into better players.

If you got players like Kai, AJ Edu, Dwight Ramos, Rhenz Abando, Carl Tamayo, RJ Abarrientos, you expect those players to get better & better in the next 3 to 5 years.

I also expect that majority of our current collegiate standouts who are FIBA eligible are going to play in the B-league & KBL instead of the PBA. I feel Kevin Quiambao, Francis Lopez, Mason Amos, CJ Cansino are headed to Japan or South Korea.

See how uncertain SBP people are with regards to Gilas future, even for the immediate future. It's like everything is in limbo. This only goes to show the lack of vision, the lack of foresight & the lack of plan (even short-term plans) on the part of Al Panlilio & all his cohorts in SBP. SBP is like someone sailing in the middle of a vast ocean that doesn't know where to go becoz it doesn't know where is south, north, east & west. It is basically sailing blind in the vast ocean.

Kung pwede lang talagang sabihin ni coach Tim Cone how incompetent Panlilio & some people at SBP are. But knowing how mild mannered coach Tim is, he probably refrained from issuing such statements.

well they managed to get the asian gold with two weeks of preparation and hugot system in the PBA. so we are back to the old ways? nasa high table ngayon PBA eh dahil sa asian gold. even the program of toroman na years ang development di nakuha ang gold.

                              Sir,

with the sudden death of Sir Ed Picson, expect our amateur boxing program will be back in the cave, look at what happened at the last SEA and AG, lolo Ricky V doesn't know all the intricacies of both sports but unfortunately he was assigned a vital position on both ABAP and SBP..

                              goodluck talaga

Well, that could be a hazard effect of the Asian Games basketball gold - false sense of security. I think most of us here at IBN think that Gilas' Asian Games basketball gold medal isn't really a reflection of the current state of Philippine basketball. To say that we won the Asian Games basketball gold becoz we have a good basketball program is an absolute stupidity.

I hope Al Panlilio & his SBP cohorts don't have that kind of a wet dream.
