For the 2025 FIBA Asia window qualifiers & tournament proper, this would be my hypothetical pool:

    Bigs:
Kai Sotto, AJ Edu, Junmar, Carl Tamayo, Mason Amos, Jamie Malonzo ( I believe Malonzo is more of a 4 than a small forward).

    Small Forwards:
Dwight Ramos, Calvin Oftana, Will Navarro,

    Shooting Guards/2-Guards:
CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, Rhenz Abando, Jordan Heading

    Point Guards:
Iskati Thompson, Kiefer Ravena, Schonny Winston

    Naturalized player: Justin Brownlee

Also worth consideration in the pool would be Justin Baltazar (if only there's no politics), Francis Lopez, RJ Abbarientos, Ken Tuffin, Aaron Black.

    • Chua on suggestions for Asia Cup at OQT: https://x.com/sonrdINQ/status/1711261477393600811?s=20

"Actually, andun palang kami sa (China), I was telling people that we have to plan for it now.

We have to know the schedules. Kung kukuha pa ba ng PBA players. Ano ba next step. Kung kukuha ba ng UAAP players? Kailangan planuhin."

Wow, some foresight from Alfrancis Chua. I feel that he's gonna turn us around on him. And the language he used, looks open to calling up our overseas players, since "kukuha pa ba" was used in reference to PBA players and UAAP players.

        • we should take advantage of this high that we have from winning the GOLD in the Asian Games.. seems all sectors are onboard.. Alfrancis Chua and the SMC block seems to be very helpful in this endeavor.. it now seems to be that the ball is now on SBPs court.. hahahahaha

eto na, dito na magkakaalaman if Al Panlilio and Sonny Barrios can take it to the next step.. kapag wala.. ay protesta na to...

          • we already have the dates for the events next year - FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers and FIBA OQT...

            FIBA Asia Cup
            Window 1 - 22 Feb 2024
            Window 2 - 21 Nov 2024
            Window 3 - 20 Feb 2025

            FIBA OQT
            2-7 July 2024

I don't know what SBP still needs for this.. start talking... start planning... kahit wala pa coach.. talk to the leagues.. talk to the players abroad.. have formal one-on-one conversations... at least PBA, UAAP, NCAA can plan ahead as well..

I expect something within the month... first even is Feb next year.. that means at most January a team should already be in place for the first window.. and that means latest by december there should be a national team head coach already.. October na ngayon.. 2 months na lang.. SBP should do something already... again I expect something this month..

            or else... hahahaha....

So B.League and KBL players are out of equation now?

              defend

I probably don't think so. He said, "kukuha pa ba" in terms of PBA players and UAAP players, which means when would we still need them. I don't think he ruled the overseas guys out.

He mentioned PBA and UAAP but nothing about overseas players.

We should put the best team possible in big tournaments, even if it means that the PBA will have less spots in the national team.

                        Correct.
Sa tuno nga ng statement na yun ni Al Chua eh parang ma's priority yung B-league & KBL players kisa sa PBA & college players.

Statements that sound very very foreign to another Al -
                          Al "Panlinlang" Panlilio.

Don't worry bro, Al Panlilio & the rest of his SBP cohorts are going to plan at the "11th hour" like they always do.

Nag gold naman tayo sa Asian Games despite planning & taking action at the "11th hour" eh.

Honestly didn't expect those statements from the boss himself. In fact, he's one of those I least expected to make those statements, given that he's PBA-affiliated. Fair play to the guy, at least he's considering the exports.

                              • with this success. i would expect going forward hugot system from the PBA and a two week practice will still continue. we got the gold.
