SMC Gilas trying to make amends with fans by having fan interaction and photo op session with the players.
SMC SBP is more grounded, while SMC PLDT is the elitist kind.
I guess SMC understands the hate of the fans. Making amends with fans is equally important as practice ..why waste one day of practice just to have fan interaction and with Gilas girls

I'm waiting on a program. As long as it leads to a good direction for the team in all levels, I'm willing to wait and see. I may have pre-judged them too harshly due to Letran, SMB, and Mags not being developed and constructed for international play, and outside of Tim Cone, lack of openness to adopt plays and schemes, and hire coaches, for international play. Who knows, maybe they'd construct the youth and senior teams more like Ginebra and TNT, maybe better versions.

Like I said, SMC knows the fans, they understand their market. They have ears on the ground. Both RSA and Longhair practically came from nothing. They know the fans' "kiliti". This is at least one good thing that came out of the take over.
This is in stark contrast with typical highly-educated white-collar executives in MVP and Panlilio who are so disconnected with the masa fans.

Interesting statlines for us:
We were 10th in DRTG at 106.3.
We allowed a true shooting percentage of 53%, good for 6th in the WC.
We allowed opponents to shoot only 32% from 3, good for 9th.
We allowed opponents to shoot 41% from the field, good for 4th.
We had the lowest AST% at 43%.
We had the 10th highest TO% at 16%.
We were 26th in 3PT% at 30%.
We were below average at offensive rebounding, grabbing only 28% of all available offensive rebounds. (ranked 21st, average 29%)
We were average at defensive rebounding, grabbing 73.7% of all available defensive rebounds. (ranked 15, average 72.9%)
We force turnovers only 12% of the time, good for 31st.
Defensive stats might have been padded by the Angola and China games, but I'll take it.
1. Keep up with the defense. Keep players who contest shots. Improve defensive rebounding. Build a roster concentrated on forcing turnovers, since we're gonna be undersized.
2. We need shooters. Heading, Parks (if his head is still in the game), even younger guys like Mason Amos and Renzo Competente.
3. Need ball movement to keep the defense off balance. It doesn't have to be a complex offense. We just have to learn how to move, and then pass to open cutters and shooters, and when to make the extra pass when a defender is closing out on you. Of course assists can come from isolation sets (from the perimeter or the post), but of course, the ball moves quicker than a person, and it can make life easier for the offense. Can save energy, actually.

Sorry ha, but all those stats , point to one main thing, we do not produce the same volume of world elite FIBA at the rate of others (period)
addressing the bigger issue of why we ended up with same results again. Remember all 32 teams have to deal with similar issues (lack of prep, chemistry, unavailability of players). So what's the difference? Two things.
1. We simply do not produce (whether naturalized or not) elite level players at the rate others do. Hello, others don't even need to rely on a NP. While others that use a NP have alot of them. Go figure
2. Unfamiliarity with FiBA style (Euro essentially)
Now those two points. Pa ulit ulit after one bad result after another. What program changes are being done to address them? Let me guess , WALA, for the nth time , what else is new

See the big difference and the results ( players produced)
Well unfortunately, for countries that are challenged with height, they need to exert more effort and money on their development programs to develop players for international competitions, not the case for countries like Sudan tho, remember that they just came off a civil war and a don't even have the facilities in basketball..

And clearly the structure of the Philippines on how it does things will NOT work.
