I was prejudiced against Boss because Letran, SMB, and Magnolia and their players aren't built and developed for international play (especially Letran), and this lack of development would translate if he manages the NT. But yeah, let's not judge muna sa Asian Games. Let's see if if the captains of the SBP can build up the youth program and a sustainable NT program on both men's and women's fronts.

i get where you are coming from but LH's job is to give the HC whatever tools he needs to win chips. thats it. if he stays as team manager for GIlas, itll more or less the same plus additional making sure that the chosen players are available and ready to complete. its the program manager who needs to decide how he wants things to be done. if the overall leadership of Gilas is to use the NT to promote PBA, then thats what everyone will do. if they go, lets showcase local talent only, then thats what they will do. doesnt mean we agree and will most likely cause an uproar, but point is, direction will be decided on by a small group of people. not just one. and RSA doesnt look like he is hands on on sporting matters.

Only if the stagnation under Panlilio continues under Boss Chua should we bring out the pitchforks. In the meantime, let's hope h

e can construct teams from youth to seniors like how Ginebra was constructed. Rim protectors like Japeth, versatile 6'6"-6'8" bigs like CStand, 6'4"+ wings like Malonzo, Brownlee, and Jeremiah Gray. Of course, guard skillsets like LA for guys 6'3" and below.

Yeah, let's see first. I just used Ginebra as a reference because of all the teams managed by SMC, Ginebra's the most fit roster for the international stage due to defense and the versatility and the balance of the roster. The other teams have flaws like not enough talent (Mags) and lack of size and versatility (Letran and SMB).

BTW, how is Bayla developing so far since his stint with Batang Gilas last yeat?

What's exciting about Bayla is he's still growing, probably close to 6'5 now. Possesses guard skills, good athleticism and good body frame for a pinoy. I'd say he's close to Dwight at the same age. I just really hope he goes to the right D1 where he will be used and developed. Kind of anxious because at his age/grade year, prospects in the US usually already announces their commitment.

With all the talk about the SBP sending the SMC all stars plus reinforcements to the Asian Games Im pretty confident a team consisting of non PBA players can smoke that team provided it would be locals only.

if we are just throwing names in, remove Tamayo and put Ron Harper Jr. an inch shorter than Carl but is better in almost every basketball skill plus a bigger body as well.
i'd also remove Abando and put Ange. Barefield and Williams can hold the playmaking by themselves and Clarkson can help IF needed. and lastly, swap Parks with Holt.
yan, plus 4 solid weeks of training together should be enough to have them play both iso and set plays. it'll be hard for other Asian countries to match up. i dont like our 3pt shooting but i like our chances of getting Clarkson free, who should make most of open looks we give him beyond the arc.i left Fajardo in because he should be able to get mismatches underneath due to the heavy guard play we should be doing with this line up.

Man, i can't wait for Stephen Holt to dominate the PBA then bounce after his rookie contract ends (or get bought out) to join Bolick & co. in the BLeague lol. His floor is Chris Lutz, ceiling is a more ball-dominant Dwight Ramos.

Assuming this is the team for the future, i removed junemar and slid in Nate Pierre Louis.

but there are no co-host. its just Qatar. outside of Indonesia, in a year where there are 3 hosts, all hosts are automatically qualified.

AFAIK, they are qualified. Qatar is the sole host, and unlike Indonesia, they have a history of success in the Asian region, especially during 2001–2005, when they were a legit Top 5 team in Asia. If we are also using the standards that were set by FIBA for Indonesia, which is a top 8 Asian team, they were in the quarterfinals seven times out of the past 10 Asia Cups.

in spirit of fairness to Indonesia, i hope FIBA gives Qatar a requisite to enter QF in Asia Cup first before directly qualifying for the World Cup.

it would have been disastrous for Indonesian fans to see their national team get clobbered by 40-70 points in the previously concluded 2023 World Cup.

Same goes with Qatar. They at least have to give indicators that the margin against World Cup teams they'll face will be less than 20-30 points per game.
