For me, youth is the answer. It's difficult to transform guys in their mid 20s.

We have prospects like Gamber who is 18, is used to playing as a lead guard, is quick for a pinoy his size, can slash and shoot and is at least 6'3. Then there is Bayla who can do similar things but is younger and taller.

The key is we have to have a long-term development plan. Those 2 guys are within that 17-23 year old batch that is loaded with size and potential. That batch should be molded together asap with a long-term outlook in mind.

The commentator last night mentioned that he coached in Germany and saw how Germany implemented a long-term program to improve. They started with grassroots making it a goal to develop more D1 and nba players (Schroder and Wagners) they improved their pro league, and they did a years-long preparation for the tournament. They invested in the youth and is now reaping the fruits, bronze in Eurobasket and gold in the World Cup.

I assume it took some years for German basketball before it is able get its return of investment. I'm sure it was a long term investment & the Germans are patient enough to wait & do the hard work.

I'm not sure if we Pinoys have that kind of patience.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Imagine if all of the people in sports and the media, including the vloggers were on board a long-term program. I'm sure public perception can slowly change.

From Quinito to Sayson to Snow Badua to Noli Eala to Enzo Flojo and to all the no name vloggers out there. They should be the one taking charge to make the public be more patient. Most of all, it should come from Long Hair. If Ginebra fans got on board, the others will follow suit.

            Sir,

If he really are the one who will handle the next cycle he should need all the patience to make a difference. As I said, it's like planting coconut trees wherein ROI are not felt immediately but certainly will pay a very big difference in the right time. ika nga, a Coconut Tree being a tree of life has all the potential Investment on it..from the leaves down to the tip of the root.

It's all there in the article. Part of it is bringing players to Div 1 NCAA schools then possibly NBA. It is similar to JP's program. You have to develop players and bring your best ones to superior training programs.

              • With JB not getting any younger, who do you think will be the SMC group’s poster import?

Hopefully, they have enough leverage in congress to get him naturalized as soon as possible.

Sadly, the personality of the country seeps into their sports program. Germany and Japan are very methodical, disciplined and patient. They build things that are innovative and high quality. It's not a mystery for them to apply it to their sports program.

Our sports program mirrors our traffic situation, city planning, padrino system, etc. But it doesn't have to be that way forever. Instead, it can actually show the Filipino how a properly handled program can achieve world class results. Kind of like how BGC is better than a lot of other world cities.

Stockton of Converge is about 6'2 and plays PG.
Hopefully Bayla can be our lead guard in the next 4-5 years

Stockton had good stats last season. He's an athletic 6-foot-2. How is his defense?

BTW, how is Bayla developing so far since his stint with Batang Gilas last yeat?

SG: Jalen Green, Dwight Ramos, Bobby Ray Parks Jr.

                          C: Kai Sotto, Junemar Fajardo

if we are just throwing names in, remove Tamayo and put Ron Harper Jr. an inch shorter than Carl but is better in almost every basketball skill plus a bigger body as well.
i'd also remove Abando and put Ange. Barefield and Williams can hold the playmaking by themselves and Clarkson can help IF needed. and lastly, swap Parks with Holt.
yan, plus 4 solid weeks of training together should be enough to have them play both iso and set plays. it'll be hard for other Asian countries to match up. i dont like our 3pt shooting but i like our chances of getting Clarkson free, who should make most of open looks we give him beyond the arc.i left Fajardo in because he should be able to get mismatches underneath due to the heavy guard play we should be doing with this line up.

                            P. Noval, A.H. Lacson, Dapitan, Espanya
                            SANTO TOMAS APAT NA DAAN

LH is higher profile, but hate on him will probably start with anti-SMC fans. gatong nlng Gilas fans if they see anything in the future.

Pinoy fans' displeasure (I won't use the word hate/hatred nalang) on Long Hair is mainly on the lopsided trades favoring SMC that fans think it was Long Hair who was the main ochestrator of such deed as well as SMC's unwillingness to lend is players to the national team (in particular the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship).

But I want to give Long Hair the chance to redeem himself as team manager for the Asian Games-bound Gilas team & maybe as possible SBP head when MVP group steps down from SBP.

Support nalang tayo sa Gilas regardless of who is/are the captain/s of the ship.
I was prejudiced against Boss because Letran, SMB, and Magnolia and their players aren't built and developed for international play (especially Letran), and this lack of development would translate if he manages the NT. But yeah, let's not judge muna sa Asian Games. Let's see if if the captains of the SBP can build up the youth program and a sustainable NT program on both men's and women's fronts.

Only if the stagnation under Panlilio continues under Boss Chua should we bring out the pitchforks. In the meantime, let's hope he can construct teams from youth to seniors like how Ginebra was constructed. Rim protectors like Japeth, versatile 6'6"-6'8" bigs like CStand, 6'4"+ wings like Malonzo, Brownlee, and Jeremiah Gray. Of course, guard skillsets like LA for guys 6'3" and below.

By the way, fans have campaigned against incompetent ownership, management, and coaches in the past. Barcelona fans have campaigned against Josep Maria Bartomeu (Bartomeu dimite ya, Bartomeu resign) for his mismanagement of the club (transfers that make no sense and/or flopped, for one; Dembele, Griezmann, Coutinho), leading to massive debt, which made Barcelona have to let go of Messi. Manchester United fans have campaigned against the club owners for years, as their club has dysfunctional management.

In the NBA, Bulls fans had a 'Fire GarPax' movement, because they made bad trades, and player development stagnated under them after 2017 (why any Bulls fan would want GarPax back in management is beyond me). They also wanted Reinsdorf to sell the team (unlikely to happen). Knicks fans have wanted Dolan to sell the team, because their team's stuck in mediocrity.
