  • With SMC money won't be a problem but with chua running the show my biggest worry is they will not hire a foreign coach kahit for consultant.... i'm ok with tim cone but he also need help from experience international coach.

Has Tim Cone handled a team outside the PBA? I'm sure he'll have the same realization that Yeng did handling Gilas: running Jollibee is very different from running a small time karonderya or isaw stand

I think TC needs to be the prog director. Al Chua by any basketball metric does not deserve to be it. What exactly does his role do? He is not a coach nor is he a team manager. I hope RSA sees that the PH program is beyond Chuas pay grade.

Yes but Tab is not that short sighted. He allowed Dwight to go even if it was to the detriment of his team when it was clear he was too good for the UAAP. I dont think a Pinoy coach would do this. And as we see the holes in Kai’s game and how Tab maximized him in Gilas maybe he was not wrong when he said he could develop him in Ateneo.

Im a tab believer but Kai in Ateneo would have been more detrimental to his development. Kai blocking shots of 6'1-6'2 guys and shooting over 6'4-6'6 centers for 2 seasons in the UAAP is a waste of time.

Do you see how much catching up Carl Tamayo has to do now in the BLeague?

We have so much talented guys but all of them are held captive in the UAAP and NCAA. Our College players are our real hope.

Meanwhile Fil-am PBA players.... there's a reason why they had to settle for the PBA, they're not overlooked, they're just not meant to play at a high level outside of the Philippines.

Yep, program director na lang si Cone. After that, he should scout for head coach candidates. I dunno, try to get competent coaches for the senior and youth level?

Chua shouldn't be the program director. I think the lack of development with Letran and SMB since he became SMC sports director will be good examples why he should not be the program director.

                        • Japan is the living proof that height alone is not everything in basketball. They just beat taller and more athletic teams of Finland and Venezuela. Telling me that basketball is not for Filipinos is just like showing that you are a pathetic liar or a fr*ck*ng lazy dude.

Do you know what two Gilas iterations that are the closest to this Japanese team? Guess what?

                          - The original Gilas team - the team under Rajko Toroman.

                          - The 2013/2014 Gilas team - Chot Reyes's coaching career already peaked here. He should have retired from Gilas after this year (2014) of World Cup.

oh, and I can see one big similarities between these 2. Majority of its players played with each other on multiple tournaments TOGETHER.
