I know Rajko's offense, and then Goorjian's emphasis on ball movement and versatility. Garcia's fast pace with DR too.

Here's a post from Gilas Pilipinas Army: https://www.facebook.com/GilasArmy/p...9Mc9RZC2U4JR1P CnEJH7hYwEEPnubszdN4l
"Funny u want SMC to takeover. sila din naman ang nasa BCAP. "
They also commented: "The same people na nabutt hurt dahil sa tactically immature n comment, the same people na hindi naniniwala sa foreign coaches, the same people na nagpaphiram ng players 10days before the tournament, the same people na naniniwalang PBA is still the best league. LMAO."
I totally agree with this sentiment. Plus, their player development has something to be desired. I don't see willingness from them to sponsor overseas development for players, and I don't see them shifting to youth development. Not really gonna commit to a rebuild, e.

Even the mighty USA became whipping boys when they sent ill-prepared teams. What makes us think we can do better emulating that.
What coach Yeng recently realized (but a lot of us has already been calling for), changes has to be wholistic. Improve grassroots, rules, coaching, economics, etc.
We have a promising batch of prospects in the 17-25 year old range. If we get our act together, we have about 10 years to maximize their potential. But it starts now, not 9 years from now.Originally posted by empyreanmaze View PostIt starts in their late 20s, we need more 29 year old 'rookies' /s. In all seriousness I'm glad Aj Edu was used this much at 23 years old. Hope he's a good signal that you can profit from your players just as much as the veterans like Fajardo WAY earlier.Originally posted by Metta View PostI'm excited to see how it will look like if you pair him with young guns like Tamayo and Amos. Imagine them playing consistently together against high-level competition for 10 years.

Reminds me, after this Asiad, we need a new core. Retain Dwight, Kai, AJ, maybe Malonzo, Scottie, Perez. Then add some more guys. Hopefully we reintegrate guys like Heading, Quiambao, Carl, Mason, RJ, SJ, Juan GDL, Navarro, Winston, and Francis Lopez. Add some new guys too, like Mamuyac, Bahay, Harris, Konov, maybe Tuffin, then Pablo, Gagate, Demisana, maybe Kieffer Alas and Irus Chua in the future.
Then focus on getting exemptions for guys like Kouame, Koon, Phillips, Lucero, Villegas, and Ballungay.

They really need to get Kouame for more competition or get him on a better league than the PBA.

The problem here lies with the PBA people who's in charge, will they do it?Will they let Kouame play outside of SMC teams? How bout he goes to an MPBL team for two years, but be available for all tournaments.

It was just an ugly game compared to the DR game.
At least we were not blown out of our building.Originally posted by ja.he View PostMakes me wonder what if the team has RJ as the sole sub-six footer there while we have Wright, Lassiter, Heading, Parks and Bolick. All of the six, while not known for their defense, are way better shooters than most in this Gilas team.Originally posted by OverratedTabBaldwinRJ and JGDL would have made a difference as additional ball-handlers and shot creators. Prior to the announcement of the lineup, I could see from a mile away that this team is poorly constructed. I didn't understand how most of the players who are imports abroad were ignored. Looks to me that the PBA wanted to make a statement that Gilas can win with a team mostly composed of PBA players. It's obviously backfiring now.
Our best eligible guys for Gilas are mostly overseas, or in the amateur levels.
