We're in luck. Goorjian will be almost out of contract. This is his last tourney in the contract.

he knows how to keep his mouth shut and been in and out of the country for more than a year, aside from being familiar with local basketball, he has also taken a liking on our culture

if only bcap and sbp are not blinded by false nationalism

Any reports on their coaching styles?

I know Rajko's offense, and then Goorjian's emphasis on ball movement and versatility. Garcia's fast pace with DR too.

"Funny u want SMC to takeover. sila din naman ang nasa BCAP. "

They also commented: "The same people na nabutt hurt dahil sa tactically immature n comment, the same people na hindi naniniwala sa foreign coaches, the same people na nagpaphiram ng players 10days before the tournament, the same people na naniniwalang PBA is still the best league. LMAO."

I totally agree with this sentiment. Plus, their player development has something to be desired. I don't see willingness from them to sponsor overseas development for players, and I don't see them shifting to youth development. Not really gonna commit to a rebuild, e.

I vote for lamas, garcia, or magnano. They handled, and achieved something, using players who arent too far feom the Philippines can produce. Has toroman been coaching against good international competition for the past 5years? Parang Indonesia, and that was specifically targeted against PH. So pass. Goorjan, lemanis, and henare should be great coaches but me thinks they have to drastically change tactics if they dont have players as long as, as versatile, or as fundamentally sound as the players they handled while coaching other NTs. I bet they can do wonders, but we why nit someone who is proven in FIBa who handled a team like PH? Which is most south american countries are like except Brazil.

What coach Yeng recently realized (but a lot of us has already been calling for), changes has to be wholistic. Improve grassroots, rules, coaching, economics, etc.

We have a promising batch of prospects in the 17-25 year old range. If we get our act together, we have about 10 years to maximize their potential. But it starts now, not 9 years from now.

Carl has improved his defense. I think after this WC, he will commit more to the NT. Mason might improve his defense under Tab as well. AJ with either of them would be good. Hopefully new management and coaching will see that.

                • Reminds me, after this Asiad, we need a new core. Retain Dwight, Kai, AJ, maybe Malonzo, Scottie, Perez. Then add some more guys. Hopefully we reintegrate guys like Heading, Quiambao, Carl, Mason, RJ, SJ, Juan GDL, Navarro, Winston, and Francis Lopez. Add some new guys too, like Mamuyac, Bahay, Harris, Konov, maybe Tuffin, then Pablo, Gagate, Demisana, maybe Kieffer Alas and Irus Chua in the future.

Then focus on getting exemptions for guys like Kouame, Koon, Phillips, Lucero, Villegas, and Ballungay.

About Chot, I don't know. About SBP, absolutely, they should still go. It's not just about our senior team, they need to focus on youth too, which horribly underperformed last year.

                    • I like Taiwans approach. They know they have promising teenage prospects and immediately constructed another team to give them the experience needed. Long-term diskarte (which we lack).

They really need to get Kouame for more competition or get him on a better league than the PBA.

IMO, we need Kouame to play in the PBA for at least a year or two. It will help a lot for his case to be local.

pretty much, nobody would dislike Cone. what doesn't help Chot's case is his arrogance. his histrionics comes a close second.

The problem here lies with the PBA people who's in charge, will they do it?Will they let Kouame play outside of SMC teams? How bout he goes to an MPBL team for two years, but be available for all tournaments.

It was just an ugly game compared to the DR game.

At least we were not blown out of our building.

Looks to me that the PBA wanted to make a statement that Gilas can win with a team mostly composed of PBA players. It's obviously backfiring now.
That's one of the biggest reasons I want the PBA guys in SBP gone. Pabida kasi masyado ang PBA, e. After this WC, who have they to offer apart from aging stars, Malonzo, maybe Oftana, and a young Mamuyac? The PBA's a farmers' league now.

Our best eligible guys for Gilas are mostly overseas, or in the amateur levels.
