LOL. What do you want us to do, riot? Losing is just part of the game, how important that competition anyway? It's nothingburger compared to what Tab has achieved and contributed to Philippine basketball already. You're talking like there's a huge stake in that loss.

Judging how Kai barely improved his game despite him playing in superior leagues, he might just as well play with Tab. Tab would hone his skill and make him a better player. Sure, that might be terrible idea financially, but given how mediocre of a player he still is, it's not the worse thing that could happen to him.
I think Kai's game has improved a lot. I remember him being unable to run in u16s. I just think Kai was really overrated as a prospect by certain groups. Its the modern game, Kai game isnt really built for it.

Also Im comparing the reaction to Tab losing twice in the WUBS to the reaction to the Jones Cup losses of RoS. Both tourneys really dont matter I agree but reactions are so different and my belief is that certain types just want to hyperfocus on the PBA instead of seeing the larger problems of our program.

    • isn't it Ateneo with Tab won WUBS championship last year? Compared to the PBA what have they done to improve PH basketball. none, still stuck in the 90s best league in asia kuno can't even hire import above 6'9 lol

Maybe because PBA is a pro league and, supposedly, the league where the country's best players are playing whereas UAAP is still, by name, a collegiate league where players are still developing their game. For me, it comes down with the name and reputation.

indeed kai's game has improved a lot. i do think however that today, kai's game has reached its ceiling.

This reminds of the discussion in spin yesterday about the final 12. The hosts and call in panelists were almost unanimous in picking Jamie as a starting SF. I think since the centennial team with Jun Limpot we have been hoping for a tall SF. I hope Chot figures it out because Jamie is probably the best PF candidate to switch to SF. He might not be using DDO now but I think needing a guard like SF puts too much strain in your defense.

Bigs, especially pinoy bigs take longer to peak. Usually past 30. It's probably because most are slow, so their game doesn't reach it's peak until they get peak strength and gain a lot of experience to figure out how to play despite being slow-footed.

Benjie is one of the exceptions but he does have Australian genes. And most people don't know, Benjie had very good handles. He was born ahead of his time.

It's in our dna, we enjoy criticizing our own. How many times do we hear kababayans say "onli in da pilipins" even if it's also prevalent in other countries/culture.

On Tab, he's not perfect but any level-headed observer will admit that he has improved Philippine basketball.

I think it’s still premature to say he’s reached his ceiling, he’s only a year older than Francis Lopez. He’s still young and got a few years of development left

WUBS was a collegiate tournament though plus Im arguing we should hyperfocus on youth prospects since the ceiling of our pros aint where we really want it to be at least our youth should have the same ceiling as those in top countries if developed correctly.

At Benjie's peak, would you choose Benjie over Carl Tamayo to play for Gilas?

If its 90's era basketball, I'll choose Benjie Paras. If its present basketball, I'll pick Carl Tamayo.

Best pro league in Asia whose 2 best teams got massacred (very embarrassing loses by SMB) in last year's EASL festivities. Best league in Asia my ass!!!
