Those skills he probably gained in HS in JP.

I think regardless of athleticism we should train our guys to shoot, dribble and defend well. If they are athletic then they have a higher ceiling. Dwight Ramos is a good example. He was nobody in USA. But here was asked to do everything. It turned out his combination of handles, athleticism, strength and defense was effective here. Even his outside shooting seems to be improving. Heck to me he looked better defending the paint than the slimmer Malonzo.
RDO , Kwill, Ping were pretty athletic when he was younger. It's only when they got older that they seemed to rely more on skills and strength and BBIQ. Compared to them on the same age, our younger guys looked to be a lot more reliant on skill and less athletic. Maybe it's due the way the game is being played nowadays but a lot of our Fs seemed to emulate how older RDO played.

Caelum and Bayla are incoming seniors in high school. They have some D1 offers and should choose that route. Hopefully, they develop well.

Not just Pogoy. Troy, Almazan, Wright are not serviceable anymore, and not serviceable for the bigger part of their Gilas careers.

As for non-players, get Panlilio, Chua, and Vargas out.

It doesn't matter if he retires or not. Josh Reyes will take his place to continue his legacy of failure.

                    iirc, he did mention this.

                    • Watching the Jones Cup really makes me envious of the Taiwan national team program that they take the initiative to form a Team B for the seniors team composed of their younger players. Obviously we have numerous prospects for the seniors team and we have enough to actually have our own B team but unfortunately the SBP is handled by short sighted incompetent people and politics is still a major hurdle for our national team.

Coach would hopefully be Nenad, Charles Tiu, or Goldwin Monteverde. Or, all three.

Add some VERY promising young players in HS as well if we want a Team B.

I dont understand why he was in the pool in the first place. He was actually decent. But we know he had injury problems. But why then was he forced to join the pool? The answer is so that the PBA would not need to add bigs from outside the PBA. Before Edu showed he was still good as he was when he was 18 yrs old, we had a lot of questions marks if he was healthy enough to play 20 minutes. Kai was a big question mark. Good soldier Erram had to be there or God forbid PBA had to swallow its pride and get a player in the pool outside of its ranks. AJ Edu actually saved SBP and PBA's butts. If he did not play beyond expectations, based on his injury history and limited playing time, SBP and PBA would be hearing it from fans.

Perhaps the situation in Taiwanese basketball is way different from Philippine basketball.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

I would have settled with Jong with Nenad as his offensive coordinator, have Charles Tiu craft a better defense than just packing the paint.
