Something which I don't expect our greedy PBA people would do. But even without PBA national team prospects (Malonzo, Thompson, CJ Perez, Oftana) during the July-August-September period, we still can have the non-PBA Gilas prospects who are playing in foreign pro leagues which calendars are synchronized with the FIBA calendar. We still can have Kai, AJ Edu, Tamayo, Baltazar (hope he doesn't play in the PBA), Dwight Ramos, Abando, Parks, Jordan Heading, RJ Abarrientos. We can also add a No. of college or amateur players like Mason Amos, Francis Lopez (both already played for Gilas before), Chico Briones, Mark Belmonte, Jonel Policarpio & even the ineligibles like Mike Philipps & Kai Balungay. Then we can have Justin Brownlee as our naturalized player. If for instance Iskati Thompson won't make it becoz of his injured hand (well I hope he makes it), and Kiefer Ravena doesn't make it to the final-12 man roster either, would this be the 1st time that a Philippine national team bound for a major tournament would be without a natural/legit point guard? Let's be honest, neither CJ Perez nor Newsome nor Rayray Parks are natural point guards. Coach Chot hinted that he might play Clarkson at the point guard spot at times. I don't expect that's gonna happen. I think even with Scottie around, Clarkson would be the best candidate for PG duties for Gilas come the WC proper. Granted that it has been almost a decade since but there were some games of JC in the past in an LAL uniform shouldering most of PG duties whenever he was on the floor, and it's not just some NBA-level ball handling he exhibited but that of a legit NBA point guard. I can't remember his on-court decisions though if it was good enough (probably not back then as the Lakers were a sub-20 game winner when he was with them), as it's mostly his offensive prowess that was on display. Too bad though, we don't have someone else in the same level of JC, offense-wise, so tasking him to do it all on offense may have adverse effects for Gilas all tournament long.Originally posted by JAMSKIE View PostComment

JC will play make some but I think not full time. Actually, I have some doubts if Scottie can drive against the WC foes. This means he will probably be in PNR most of the time. I think JC will best be slotted at SG as a combo guard with Dwight at SF, Edu at PF and either Kai or Japeth at C. Scottie has been idle for a long time that although I hope he can start but until we see him in the next tuneups I don't think he is a shooin to start. The problem is all our PG's have big question marks. CJ - defense and decision making. Newsome - scoring and shooting. Kiefer - slow and short. Bollick shouldve been in the pool as along with CJ he did well in the last WC. But oh well PBA politics.Originally posted by Rodbi View PostComment

U got players like Tamayo, Kevin Quiambao, Mason Amos, Kai Balungay & Mike Philipps in there. The only hicup is that Balungay & Philipps are both ineligible for now.
