I think coach Tab's plan was just to reinforce that team or pool with a Jordan Clarkson & perhaps 2 or 3 PBA players. There would have been an established chemistry or cohesion in the team/pool with such a plan or program.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Why is it that I have this feeling that humanap lang ng rason ni Al Panlilio para tanggalin si Tab Baldwin as Gilas head coach. When coach Tab asked the SBP that he takes a brief leave of absence from coaching Gilas to focus on his coaching with Ateneo, Panlilio was quick to insinuate that ayaw na daw mag coach sa Gilas si coach Tab, which of course is very far from the truth."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. You know they were wishing and waiting for Tab to fail. For the qualifiers against Korea they could only lend Raul freaking Soyud. What more evidence do you need that they wanted Tab to fail? But under Tab, a bunch of amateurs were able to defeat our nemesis Korea. Even got close to defeating Serbia and this is without Dwight.
Since Tab succeeded beyond their wildest dreams Al and co waited for another opportunity. Tab I think had a trip to the US because of a family emergency. When he came back he requested to rest for coaching for 1 qualifier. Then Al struck, saying how unpatriotic Tab was. But when Chot took a pass for some qualifiers and games, not a peep from Al and co.
I dont think you could give any other reason for Tabs removal than Al and co just wanted him out. For them Tab was just the deodorizer for the Gilas head position until it was mabango enough so they could put back the original fart, Chot.
I hope Al and PBA dont ruin our chances here. But the way the preps our going it doesnt look good.

It is ironic that the PBA seems to be banking on Junemar to give a major contribution to the team. Only one coach was able to make Junemar go down to his optimum Fiba condition, Tab. After partly contributing to Junemars leg injury by playing him at a heavy weight for a long time, PBA is now hoping against hope that Junemar becomes better on defense when even healthy he was ineffective defensively at his PBA weight. Now, Junemar seems to be going down in weight again. But wouldnt it have been nice if SMC allowed Junemar to maintain his light weight with Tab? He would have been much better defensively and he probably wouldnt have broken his leg.
But SMBs record AFC streak was more important. So now they want to have their cake (AFC streak) and eat it too (relevance in the WC). And they want it with an older Junemar post leg break. I just have to admire Junemars nationalism and loyalty. He doesnt even work this hard in the PBA. But SMC is just plain greedy.

Lets face it like Boban, Jokic. If a player is not athletic to begin with he will not be athletic all of sudden when he slim down. Thats JF reality also.

Even Boban is ripped compared to prime June Mar. June Mar became so slow in the PBA that you had his Cebu coaches and Ramon Fernandez saying he was much quicker in college.
Aftet Tab, he was effective offensively but became a worse defensive liability. He was an off the bench scoring punch. But not somebody you can rely on defense. Just look at how he and Japeth made Kazakhstans frontline look like stars. Without Blatche you couldnt rely on Junemar for major minutrs because his defense would be exposed.Last edited by Rds; 08-03-2023, 12:01 AM.

That is why you have tall guys like Chet and Vic maintain a slim build over bulking up.

In Kazak game it was CStand that was the main guard of Zaghulin not JF. Both played 4
