Resembles some pipeline pathway to develop NT prospects..

The strange thing is the SBP has no whatsoever involvement in the pathway, in fact are more of a barrier.

i hope that the next benefactor of Gilas will focus on youth development. If Longhair is indeed the next SBP chief, my God Junmar would probably still part of the 2027 team

Hahaha! That even if Junmar is as slow as a Bonel Balingit, he would still be chosen in Gilas 12-man roster for the 2027 World Cup. Eh kasi he's a 6-time MVP of the PBA. He might even be a 7-time or 8-time MVP by that time.

The given reality is for overseas players , especially in another region, Amercas or Europe, national team members preparation will always be limited , 28 days is already generous
that is why I really don't buy that the Philippines has less preparation time as compared to world level teams, this is really not true., especially since NT players are all in one city (Manila)

that’s why instituting a long term system/program is important. Euro and Americas team that has a number of nba players (luka, giannis, jokic, sabonis) who were part of their respective nteams as early as 14-15 yrs old, same with their other teammates, thus chemistry, familiarity, gameplan were already part of their muscle memory/brains and a 1 month training camp will suffice

Yes bro you have a point there but there is still a significant difference between how we prepare compared to what other countries are doing with their respective national teams. Take for instance our current Gilas pool for the World Cup, how cohesive is the pool as compared to other Asian teams like Jordan, Iran, Lebanon, China & South Korea? Definitely Gilas isn't as cohesive.

Its simply becoz our Asian counterparts have been keeping an "intact" national pools that they maintain for say a 4 or 5-year cycle (or even more than that). These national pools have been playing FIBA & other international tournaments or window qualifiers for 4 to 5 years now (even more). Intact yung national pool/team nila pero yung Gilas pa iba-iba.

The Gilas pool of coach Tab Baldwin in 2020 to 2021 is different from the current Gilas pool of Chot Reyes. Of course meron ding mga holdovers from the 2020-2021 pool like Kai, Dwight Ramos, Kouame, Jordan Heading, Thirdy, Tamayo, pero yung ibang players from the 2020-2021 pool eh wala sa current pool.

We also have this habit of forming a different pool/team for a particular tournament. Take the case of our 2023 SEA Games team, out of the 12 players Gilas players in the SEA Games, only CJ Perez, Chris Newsome & Calvin Oftana are part of the World Cup-bound Gilas pool. Then for the upcoming Asian Games, baka ibang players na naman ang lalaro. We might flood our Asian Games-bound Gilas team with so many Fil-ams who are not FIBA eligible. So paano tayo maka establish ng tamang cohesion dyan?

So I think the best alrernative for the post 2023 World Cup Gilas national team is to form a 24-man pool that will play FIBA games & other international tournaments for a 4-year cycle leading to the 2027 World Cup. At please naman, as much as possible wag na nating dagdagan or bawasan or palitan ang players players sa 24-man pool na yan. Hanggat maari, wag na nating guluhin yung pool.

I think this is the best alternative given the fact that, as you pointed out, we really can't prepare full time & with a complete pool/team for say a 2 to 3 months prior to the World Cup.

That's why we really need long-term chemistry, and that will come with a long term program that CoJ mentioned. Need a constant identity and a core that has played together for a long while. Problem for us, we don't really have a long-term core, which JAMSKIE pointed out. How many years was the longest? 2012-2016? Even then, a big chunk of the roster changed.

That's why we need a good basketball identity, starting from the youth level, and we train under that good identity, so that training time won't be much of an issue.

the only thing we have for long term would be japeth and junmar representing the country in 3 consecutive world cups (plus the qualifiers).

Tab’s bubble gilas could have been the core of the program until the next decade, until Chot and company decided to hijack the program.

2. Kiefer Ravena (I would prefer Robert Bolick in this spot but Bolick seems not that committed to Gilas recently)
3. CJ Perez
4. Thirdy Ravena (I would choose Thirdy over Chris Newsome becoz of age factor)
5. Jordan Heading
6. Rayray Parks
7. Jordan Clarkson (NP)
8. Dwight Ramos
9. Jamie Malonzo
10. Calvin Oftana (if only Navarro isn't injured, I'll choose him over Oftana)
11. Carl Tamayo

15. Ange Kouame
16. Kai Sotto
17. AJ Edu
18. Poy Erram (its actually a toss-up between him & Junmar but I feel Erram is more useful)

I put Philipps & Kouame in there mainly for exemption purposes. I would love a Justin Baltazar in there but for reason I don't know, it seems SBP doesn't like Baltazar in the Gilas pool.

Wait ! Is Mike Philipps not eligible? The guy is very explosive I like his energy & passion for the game. If only he has three point shot or perimeter shot in his arsenal I will pick him over Jamie Malonzo. No disrespect Malonzo did great last time & he is a great addition to the team. But Phillips is a different animal on the court.

Kouame arrived in the Philippines in October 2016, he was welcomed by a family with generations of Atenean blood in their veins including Gaby Veloso

So Ange is a permanent resident for 7 years like Brownlee, but unlike Brownlee does not go home to IVORY Coast in off season

Ange moved as teenager minior , is fatherless as his dad passed away when he was 12 , he cites he moved to Philippines to study and improve his future given his difficulty situation in IC. . As a minor he required parental supervision which was provided by families in Manila .

His basketball heritage developlent is purely the Philippines unlike Brownlee who's game was developed in the US .

Kouame acquired Passport for more than 2 years now, in his 20s , while Brownlee got his passport just recently

This is one which I am really praying for. I hope they would push for Ange's localisation. That will be huge considering we will have a trio of AJ, Kai and ANGE.Then we can go whichever between JB & JC no problem it would still be a formidable team.
I also hope that PBA would allow the likes of KOAME , BLATCHE or DOUTHIT in the leauge. It would definitely bring the league to another level.

2 big reasons , neither of the two have a Philippine passport and SBP didn't apply for an exception,

Having socialist policies is a bad word in many Western countries Especially the US and is equated to being communist. Essentially there is a balance in everything.
The Philippines eco system is screwed up, resulting on forever lack of genunune progress in almost all sectors including basketball.. There is no coherent approach towards doing what's best for advancing the game, rather everything is driven by self commercial interest of rival groups, again the eco system .

NCC Philippines and captured the 1984 Asian Basketball Club Championship in Ipoh, Malaysia, but this was before i think Caidic joined, they played in 1985 FIBA Club World Cup at Girona, Spain (I guess with Caidic, his FIBA debut, so essentially Caidic played in NT from 1985 to 1998.
