Just some Trivia , James Spencer got his passport at 18 years old : "After all, he would've been a part of the 2018 Fiba Under-18 Asian Championship in Thailand had he gotten his Philippine passport on time last year" , James was born in 2000. so essentially if Spencer moved to UP as an 17/18 year old , got his passport at 18 , then as a 19 year old ( 1 or 2 years residency) he was exempted .
Now what's the difference with Philipps ? main difference is Spencer's name was submitted as part of the roster for FIBA clearance for the U19 Worlds, so essentially I tell you now if Mike's name is included in the roster for the World cup , to be requested for FIBA clearance , he will get approved ( very very confident) , the only question is will the SBP put his name in for FIBA clearance approval and essentially exemption?Attack

in 2019 WC Gilas has a 19 man pool published here in FIBA's website ( submitted) https://www.fiba.basketball/basketba...world-cup-poolLast edited by DAdmiral; 05-23-2023, 02:07 AM.

( and they're cleared forever for future tournaments ) , quite a no brainer right ? but will the SBP do this ? I'm not sure and don't think so.. They rather put Junmar in the pool LOLAttack

Literally submit both Kouame and Phiipps in the pool for WC , and make MVP do what he did in 2011 FIBA Asia and beg the SEC general to allow for Lutz and Lassiter to play , (but in Manila ) let's see if the FIBA sec general has the guts to say NO to both request . LOL ... sounds drastic but why not?

The better. However, knowing how short-sighted, uncreative and unimaginative SBP is, I will not expect them to do this. They would rather have the fan favorites (Brownlee, Japeth and Junemar) over those that the team can be used for long term (Philips, Kouame)."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. Oh! Am I too optimistic about SBP?"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. With the future of Philippine basketball as a heavy priority, here's my 18-man pool for the 2023 World Cup?
1. Iskati Thompson
2. Kiefer Ravena (I would prefer Robert Bolick in this spot but Bolick seems not that committed to Gilas recently)
3. CJ Perez
4. Thirdy Ravena (I would choose Thirdy over Chris Newsome becoz of age factor)
5. Jordan Heading
6. Rayray Parks
7. Jordan Clarkson (NP)
8. Dwight Ramos
9. Jamie Malonzo
10. Calvin Oftana (if only Navarro isn't injured, I'll choose him over Oftana)
11. Carl Tamayo
12. Mason Amos
13. Mike Philipps
14. Japeth Aguilar
15. Ange Kouame
16. Kai Sotto
17. AJ Edu
18. Poy Erram (its actually a toss-up between him & Junmar but I feel Erram is more useful)
I put Philipps & Kouame in there mainly for exemption purposes. I would love a Justin Baltazar in there but for reason I don't know, it seems SBP doesn't like Baltazar in the Gilas pool."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game.
