They would have been a better team by now. Tab always aims to win. Its unlikely that hr will give all the effort on development without aiming to win at least 1 game in the WC.

I would just rather read or watch the replay if they will have any games at a respectable result.Originally posted by barok espinoza View PostSo, the decline of the golden age of Philippine basketball is as swift as its rise? Gilas Army want Chooks, MVP (the man himself, not his underlings i.e. Panlilio and Vargas), and (wait for it.....) Delta Pineda to take over the NT program: https://twitter.com/gilasarmy/status...H0aGTHrfA&s=19
Furthermore, they want the Smart Gilas program revived in order to lessen the reliance on the PBA: https://twitter.com/gilasarmy/status...tw8MhiDWQ&s=19
I'd rather have an NT camp in longer window breaks and before World Cups. If many of the best Gilas players aren't in the PBA, we can invite them there and have a long training session to get chemistry.
Honestly, I feel Chooks are a good option at this point, at least better than SMC and Panlilio, Vargas and Co. They helped out with Kai, and are sending 3x3 teams to FIBA events. Delta, well...

If only Mike Philipps is FIBA-eligible right now, he's really the taller version of Mark Pingris. This means a better version of Pingris. At 21 yrs old, we already have a glimpse of his potential as a role player. Philipps exhibits tenacity, motor & work ethic that Pingris also demonstrated during his stint with Gilas.
Well, I hope Philipps gets an exception from FIBA in 2 to 3 years time."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

even if none of my business, I going to ensure ill do what I can to lobby with both the SBP and FIBA to pursue exemption for Mike, no harm trying , even if I look like a fool minding other people's business

MIKE'S mentality and attitude, he really plays hard , and if you notice even despite the altercations he's actually a peace maker and in control..exemplary behavior.. body language says alot , you can see he really has no issues with his limited role and just does his job. Great teamate to have for Gilas. We don't have a Pingris like player
Mike's athleticism, motor, & physical strength & toughness is similar to Pingris. And just like Pingris, Mike's skills are also limited.
In case Mike gets an exemption in 2 to 3 yrs time, I see a solid rotation of Kai, Edu, Malonzo, Tamayo, Baltazar & Mike Philipps at the 5 & 4 spots."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. JC and Kai added to Gilas is great but honestly others are matching and passing that.
Then when you factoring in Average Height (Very Basketball Related) , guess which Country is shortest.
The future not looking so great for Gilas on International Level , at least you always have all those PBA superstars to cheer for.
It's gonna take a major management shakeup for the outlook in Philippine basketball to get brighter again.
It's honestly more enjoyable to watch the women's football team. At least they have a clear identity and direction, and many players are playing abroad. Development, management, and coaching is good too. Sucks that they got booted out of the SEA Games on goal difference.

Fucking SBP morons. Removing Tab really was stupid. At least we had some semblance of direction. Tab and Chot already have a good relationship.

My proposed changes to FIBA eligibility
Naturalized player : Remain as 1 per tournament with passport, must establish 3 years residency and start residency at 25 yrs old. Rationale: You want NP to contribute at his prime to level of domestic competition (no hugot NBA mercenaries)
11 local none NP roster spots per team.
U16 rule remains , but with an exception for those with family heritage to the country. Definition criteria for heritage: A great grand parent or earlier parent generation of player must have lived in selected country for 10 years as a minor (before 18) and player must secure passport before 21st Birthday .
*Note Clarkson will pass with propose change
* maybe limit # of exceptions to 5 per team
* maybe limit heritage to parent generation , with passport as a minor in lieu of residency as a minorLast edited by DAdmiral; 05-13-2023, 10:26 PM.
