But I think we should marry the "patapangan" part with developing the good players for international competitions. We have to emphasize fitness for international competitions, especially in our 3 and 4 positions, even 2.
    Speaking of Bigs.

I hope We can have a High Motor Physocal/Versatile Guy to pair up with Kai and AJ in the Future.

AJ is a perfect partner for Kai. if he is healthy and back to normal self.

Japeth and JMF will retire soon.

Hopefully we can have 1 more backup Center to help.

Tamayo and Baltazar are Forwards for me, they are really not Centers in Fiba Game imo.

Prime and Healthy Kai and AJ will elevate our national team though greatly.

Carl can dish some but his activity level isn't the same as CJ and Scottie. How about Japeth? He threw down against Au. We might need some enforcers especially against teams who'll try to bully Kai or JC

I am thinking of Michael Phillips. But still a big if. I just hope he'll eventually be considered local. At 6'8, he's the perfect complimentary big alongside Kai. Motor is off the charts, great rebounder and rim defender.

Agree with Mike Philipps, along with Lucero & Koon, i hope they can be locals in 2-3 years
          A Gilas team of
          Kai
          Kouame
          Edu
          Philipps
          Tamayo
          Amos
          Lucero
          Malonzo
          Lopez
          Dwight
          Koon
          Winston
should be good enough for the next 10 years

I don't think Pba will allow a Gilas Lineup without their representation in Big Events. Haha

Anyway, Wow, Is Winston that Good? To be the Main PG? He was just recently exempted right?

Schonny wasn't exempted. He's had his passport since 8.

SJ was allowed by KOGAS to play, after he had signed for them. And then, thanks to the PBA schedule then, we crammed for the 2017 Asia Cup, 2018 Asian Games (where we even pulled out at first, 9 days before the start of the tournament), 2019 WC (especially this one, compounded by a bad roster), and only Erram was made available for last year's Asia Cup.
I have the same sentiment bro. I also want that most national team prospects would be playing pro ball overseas, Japan & Korea in particular. We can bet that those players would be available during the window qualifiers & more importantly tournaments like the FIBA Asia Cup. In this year's FIBA Asia Cup for instance, nasaan ba ang mga PBA Gilas prospects natin? Why was it that Gilas was made up of players playing in Japan & college players while there were no PBA players?
Plain & simple, its becoz ang magaling nating PBA won't take a break & lend its players to Gilas in that tournament.

PBA is willing to take a long break to give way to the 2023 World Cup. It may look like a noble thing but the truth is, PBA just want to ride with the World Cup bandwagon.

Schonny is more of a SG than an PG rt now, I still don't see him making the lineup when we have guys like Newsome, Perez &Thirdy who are better in terms of facilitating.

And after this World Cup, questions of PBA (and to an extent collegiate) players will be in question again. Will our leagues make way for FIBA tournaments like they will for this World Cup, or will they continue with their schedule? And will the players in those leagues have enough training time for said tournaments?

No, the PBA only gave way because it is the World Cup and we are the host so PBA wants to be bida.

                        Garbage league run by garbage.

Correct. PBA just wants to ride on the 2023 FIBA World Cup bandwagon that is why they would take a long break beginning May this year to give way to the Gilas preparation. "Kunwari" PBA is making a "sacrifice" for Philippine basketball.

                          Sacrifice my ass!!!!

If we do get sent back to the Dark Ages, well, just hoping that more good FIBA-eligible Filipino prospects make it in overseas leagues, whether in SoKor, Japan, Europe, Australia, or the US NCAA.

And Cone proved himself as a good defensive coordinator for Gilas with his ability to adjust his scheme to the perimeter. He can fit it to FIBA now, especially that we have taller wings and tweeners.

                              • With the PLANNED/scripted full 7 game finals series over, who do you guys think will be named to the pool for the next FIBA window?

They already teased Jerom Lastimosa and Schonny Winston as invitees so do you guys think that other collegiate players will be named to the pool?
                                お元気ですか?
