Like I said, the current guys all lack the grit and hustle of Ping. Kulang pa.

Look no further than former Chicago Bull Dennis Rodman. Guy was only 6’7 and he was quite a rebounding devil.
    Dennis Rodman like?

So u want an elite rebounder.

    Well, anyone would

Tabs vision was we didnt need to be real tall. He wanted switchable versatile guys. Maybe similar to his NZ guys with only Kouame or similar player or even with Kai. I think this makes sense since even now 6'9 and up guys are rare for us.

      • I just wonder, what if the PBA would just adopt the FIBA rules on fouls/contact? Does these good PBA people think that calling fouls or contacts in the PBA game same as the way calls are made in the FIBA game will take away some excitement from the PBA game?

I wanna ask this question becoz everytime nalang that we have a No. of PBA players in our national team such players struggle to adjust with the way calls on foul & contact are done in the FIBA game. We can see that almost everytime a PBA national team player is assessed with a foul U can see from the facial expression of player na parang naso surprise sya or nagwa wonder about the call. Everytime we send a PBA-select national team in FIBA competitions or Asian Games, our team commits too many fouls.

On the other hand our all-amateur Gilas team handled by coach Tab Baldwin in 2021 seems to have no trouble adjusting to how calls on fouls are done in the FIBA game.

It may look like a minor difference (PBA rules on fouls/contacts compared to that of FIBA) but in reality, it has a significant impact on national team.

I think applying the FIBA rules on fouls/contacts in the PBA would bring more pros than cons for Philippine basketball.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Yeah, this should be the goal for Philippine basketball. 6'5" players who can guard the perimeter, and 6'6"-6'8" switchable versatile guys (wings or tweeners) with enough motor. Need to balance strength and mobility, though.

Yeah, Rodman's motor was unmatched. He went after every loose ball. He was also athletic and had good positioning.

Question is, how do we get a 10 RPG guy for a 40-minute game, and who'll play less than 30? Right now, the closest we have to that guy are Kai and Scottie.

Rodman was a freak of nature. Uber-strong. Perfect timing. Second jump as high as first jump. Hustle personified. Basketball IQ in the stratosphere.

              A living rebounding cheat code.

He’s putting up decent numbers in the B. League but I always doubted his consistency in the NT.

Do you think he should get another shot?
If Heading, Perez, Scottie, Thirdy, and Bolick aren't available, then sure.

He's had his chance, e. And he's 31. Thirdy and Perez are better defenders, Bolick and Scottie performed better, and Heading shoots better.

And that's on top of Dwight and Parks.

                    • Speaking of Wright, he is actually shooting really well in Japan rt now. Shooting at almost 40% from 3, I wonder what changed for him??

Right now, I think Thirdy might not get a spot.

With Scottie, Dwight, Parks, Perez, Malonzo in the mix.

Not to mention players like Heading and Navarro

Sucks nga that Navarro tore his ACL. He could have been a useful wing defender for us at 6'6". Hope Malonzo can fill in well at SF, and Oftana gets meaningful minutes at that position.

I hope that Heading's still under consideration, and SBP let go of their anger towards Heading.

                            • Here's One Sports' Gilas wishlist for next year: https://www.onesports.ph/gilas/artic...las-this-year/

                              1. Good momentum going into the FIBA Worlds
                              2. Best players in the WC lineup (Kai, June Mar, Scottie, Bolick)
                              3. Jordan Clarkson in the WC final lineup
                              4. Justin Brownlee in a Gilas uniform
                              5. More wins at the WC

Nothing beyond the World Cup. Would have wanted to see a wish for 2023 that's beyond the WC. Asian Games, November window for the Asia Cup qualifiers. Heck, a development program for Gilas prospects is another, and a program geared towards developing them for international play.

Yes I like Heading. Parks has been decent off the ball but has been pretty one dimensional. While heading knows how to exploit the gravity he creates.
