I think playing defense with our feet should be taught to players, starting from when they're kids. Helps with mobility, and the players will be more pushed to stay in front.

That said, playing defense with the feet lessens fouls, and we need to learn to just use our chests and movement when being physical. We pride ourselves for being physical, we just need to play physical the right way and harness it on defense, while tailoring players for the international game.

I remember Paul Lee hip-checking Jovic of Serbia that resulted in an automatic un-sportsmanlike foul call. I think that aside from giving too many easy baskets in that game, Paul Lee's overt display of physicality bordering the dirty, was what prompted the Sebian coach to comment about Gilas' lack of quality.

I think this would be more realized if the PBA (still the country's most popular league) takes the lead by adjusting its rules on man-to-man D/physicality according to what's allowed in the international game.

I think the Aussie/NZ game should be studied. They're physical, but their physicality is legal in FIBA. Maybe we could emulate them in the physicality limit.

“Sa PBA ang gagaling niyo, dito sa international ang tatanga niyo,”-to CJ Perez
“Pag balik niyo sa PBA, ang gagaling niyo. Pang-PBA lang kayo.”- to Pogoy
Hoy! Dribble ka ng dribble, wala ka namang skills. Di ka naman magaling. Tang*** mo, ipasa mo ang bola,” - to Barocca ( this also best explains why DDO is no longer working for Gilas

This, PBA stars are not used to this type of physicality, case of point the Gilas-Boomers brawl. PBA should probably invite Aussie and NZ teams as guest teams next yr. Though I expect Goorijan's Bay Area Dragons to emulate Aussie physicality.

to be fair, at least he had the decency to take responsibility regarding Gilas' pathetic performance and resign, eh yung isa jan, lols. But true, he lacked self awareness while he berate his team during WC 19

Well he's not wrong though. As much as he sucked in FIBA he's speaking facts here. Though the same can be said to him. Pang PBA lang

Selecting PBA players that are flops internationally (pang-PBA lang) more than higher-upside and better-fitting players, not knowing when to pass, ayun. And then, coaching styles din.

I think CJ Perez played creditably in the 2019 World Cup. Perez & Bolick were the only bright spot for Gilas in that tourney.

Giannis and Nikola Jokic Say the European Game is Harder Than the NBA Game

Very interesting topic, it seems that chot system is part of this current generation of basketball systems, one on one, high pick&roll and drive and kick style of plays. This is probabaly the reason why we will never find success under CC.

Reminds me of Phil Jackson's criticism of the Spurs way back in 2005 (wow we're stuck in 2005)
“We call this a ‘Brokeback Mountain’ game because there’s so much penetration and kick-outs,” Jackson said. “It was one of those games.”

If Parks' 3-pt shooting would continue to be consistent, he will be a perfect compliment for Clarkson at the wings. What I like about Parks is that he doesn't have a go-to-guy mentality. Instead, he's more of a facilitator & a complimentary player which makes him a very good national team prospect.

But in fairness to Pogoy, I think he was serviceable with Gilas in 2016 (cadets) & 2017.
Ayun na nga, e. He was good earlier in Gilas, especially in thr 2017 Asia Cup, could hit threes. After that, he was building mansions in the next few tournaments.

At this point, Thirdy, Perez, Newsome, Navarro, Oftana, and Heading are better options at 2 and 3. Even Francis Lopez is a better option at this point. Have more to give, while giving as much effort.
