the changing of the guard from Tab to Chot saw how Will Navarro is a system player. he has no role in Gilas now. if he joins the PBA, he will be used as a 4 (same in Ateneo but Gilas Tab team he was 3/4) when Will now still has the time and potential to play as a 3 in his 20s, then go back as a 4 in this older years.

maybe he can still play in Greece or other EU teams? though the money may not be big though. it's just 6 months until Mar 2023 anyway to develop skills, improve shooting from 3, dribbling can still improve, etc.
Still dont get why sbp will hinder such development from a player they didn't even use for practice for months. Crab, all the way.

He played in the FIBA Asia Cup. Just wasnt used in the last window. Without the contract dispute, Id think he'd be part of last window's pool.

he can play in Taiwan. leagues there will start on November and/or December. Regular season usually from November/December-April/May. Post-season will be on May/June. So Will will have 3-4 months playing there.

Will miss Gilas practice in May if he does this though.

he's not even listed in the pool, despite not playing for any team

He most probably will be their Troy Rosario replacement both in position and role, sucks because I was really happy on how CYG was using Oftana in NLEX.

I will side with the SBP here primarily because he has an existing contract with the SBP.

That bloody sucks for him, honestly. He's a jumper away from being a prototype wing of the future, e. He already has the size and length for it at 6'6" with long arms, and can keep up with wings and some guards on defense.

If placed in the wrong environment, nako, Navarro might be another Troy Rosario case. A tweener with an erratic shot, can't defend any forward position, and not much perimeter skill.

On the bright side, Oftana played most of his minutes at 3 under Chot. Hopefully that's a good indication of things to come for Oftana at TNT, even with Castro and Mikey taking a lot of his ballhandling duties. And on defense, assign him to a wing or even a guard na lang.

Take a page from Yeng on how to use Oftana. Ballhandling duties, and then defend the opponent's point of attack.

                  • A thread from Enzo Flojo on the Navarro situation: https://twitter.com/hoopnut/status/1...7xNjlJBIA&s=19

He says that while SBP are on the right (Navarro has a live Gilas contract), the way they're handling this situation, it sends a restrictive impression on the players. Instead of adding value for being a Gilas pool member, it removed value from it. If SBP sat down with Navarro's camp, in his opinion, to try to compromise, and still decided this way, this sends a non-progressive and non-inclusive message.

UAAP and NCAA Gilas hopefuls will have second thoughts about being a PBA Gilas prospect, and just opt to go abroad and still have a chance to play for Gilas (if they secure Gilas clauses).

PBA Gilas draft should die anyway. Whats the point?

                      • Michael Phillips is naturalized, as per FIBA: https://tbti.me/s22h3t

However, he can acquire local status via the Greg Slaughter/Chris Newsome route. I hope SBP applies for exemption right after he exhausts his eligibility for La Salle.

Yup just wait a bit. I hope Schonny and Zave decide to go to the PBA and also wait for an exemption. Best for Gilas long term.

IBN's hunch is right. Still not eligible. Not yet at least

Any chance Slaughter gets to play this coming window or the next?

No way Chua and the boys will call up Slaughter after he stood up to them when he was in the PBA. Even more so after he called out the SBP for their greed and stupidity when they confronted the B league with regards to the player's exodus to Japan. And besides they are enlisting Kouame and it seems Al Chua is releasing Aguilar and Fajardo for the next window.
                                お元気ですか?
