We're just going to waste Kai, JC, Dwight, etc. prime years aren't we? We don't have any legit bigman prospect of Kai's caliber nor NBA prospect aside from maybe Harris who underwhelmed IMO either. This core is probably the strongest we will have for while so we need to go all in next year.. -
I disagree that Tab's team will be bulldozed. I consider Tab's team to be a non-PBA team but still with the availability of Clarkson. If we do this, Tab's first 5 will be Kai, (could be Edu), Baltazar, Dwight, and Clarkson. You can then compare this with Chot's superb coaching skill but with almost the same 1st 5 albeit the addition of Japeth and Skatti. His 1st five will be Kai, Japeth, Dwight, Clarkson and Skatti. I think Tab's preparation and guidance plus his 1st 5 is better than CHots. We can then look at the bench of Tab. Tab will have Tamayo, Heading, Ildefonso, maybe Michael Philips, Abando, Belangel, Abarientos.......Chot will have Adams, Malonzo, Fajardo, Thirdy Ravena, Kiefer Ravena, Parks, Oftana......I dont think the skills are that far but the difference is the style of play and which coach prepares his team better........Tab rely on system while Chot relies more on the skills of his player and the bahala systemOriginally posted by zuma169 View PostComment

At the current state, I consider the Ateneo team or maybe even the UP team better than Gilas 1 with Douthit. I also think that the Gilas 2 with Douthit is at par with the current Ateneo or UP team.Comment

Samboy actually is my idol during my early years of following the PBA, but I think Samboy's glaring weakness was defense. He was a deadweight on defense. But offense wise, I saw Samboy & Vergel Meneses as among the most skilled PBA players of all time. I don't think Dwight Ramos is quicker than Dave Ildefonso. Halos magkapareho lang sila in terms of quickness. Its just that Dwight has better hops & is physically stronger than Dave. What I like about Dave since he transferred at Ateneo is that he has learned to play more as a team player & has departed from the "heavy ball" mentality that he has developed during high school & his collegiate career at NU. According to some of my uncle, they are lucky enough to witnessed on the spot the legendary status of the Skywalker during his Letran days at the old Rizal Coliseum wherein a barely six foot guy literally walking in the air just to get that enough stride to make sure that his patented lay-up will not be “kapos” because the guy takes off early maybe in the free throw line that cause a lot’s of ohh’s and ahh’s reactions in the gallery, that was his heyday, the peak of the player they called The Dragon, thanks to my uncles for that story.Comment
