We have to remember that Eala was the one who modified the PBA calendar in the mid-2000's during his term as PBA Commissioner. Such modification was aimed to syncronize the PBA calendar with FIBA. That is why during the months of July, August, September, our PBA players were available for national team duties since it was PBA off season during that period. Imagine if the PBA continued what Eala has started in so far as PBA calendar is concerned. Available sana mga Gilas prospect PBA players natin during the months of July, Aug. & Sept.

Also under Commisioner Noli Eala, PBA season was reduced to only 2 conferences which for me made a lot lot more sense than a 3-conference PBA season.
Even if he doesnt directly control SBP for sure his position as PSC chair will make him a better sounding board. But might him commenting about the basketball program be construed as the government interfering in Fiba matters?

    • This booing thing may considered as a low level antic and at the same time it is also an effective way of protesting without invoking any physical confrontation to a particular person or people whom you dislike. Now if these booing thing on CCR, Panlilio, Vargas and MVP will be effective enough to somehow bring some senses on the Oligarch? It seems impossible considering that those old dudes are the trust guy of the Oligarch therefore the untouchables. As for Comm Noli, I think he is the right guy for the job but if ever he tried some drastic move against the current leadership at SBP just to make some statement, Man oh Man !! !! !! That will be a tall order…messing up with the Lannisters may end up anyone’s head on the spikes.

About your question, yes, it may sound like a government intervention on SBP being the governing body of Philippine basketball & its something that FIBA detests. But I think as PSC chairman, Noli Eala throwing negative comments about Chot & SBP won't trigger a another FIBA suspension against Philippine basketball. I strongly support those people, especially high ranking sports & basketball personalities expressing their dissappointment & disapproval on Chot Reyes & SBP leadership. I think such opionions are necessary if only to further pressure Choke Reyes & Al Panlilio to resign from their respective posts for the betterment of Phi basketball.

Honestly, I strongly support the booing of fans on Chot Reyes last Monday night as it sent a strong message to everyone including FIBA that majority of Pinoy basketball fans dislike Chot Reyes & are disappointed at how SBP is running Phi basketball. I think it further adds to the already heavy pressure that Chot & SBP top brass have been carrying on their backs for quite a time. I say the booing that the fans did, may be in poor taste as some see it, but maybe that is what we need to bring the changes we want.

        So pressure pa more.

        • Guys, do U think AJ Edu could play good minutes at the 4 spot? Are Edu's laterals & quickness good enough for him to defend the 3-pt shooting stretch-4's of Lebanon, Korea, Japan?

I'm excited about the idea of having a 6-foot-10 agile & atletic big guy who can play both the 4 & 5 spot with ease.

I don't care what will be his output for this season, I want him to be healthy next year... That's It.... We all know how he can capable to be when he wears Gilas jersey....
If Edu will join Gilas, and if he's at least as good as Sotto, then JC is fine as NP.

Can Edu join us in the 5th and 6th windows?

5th & 6th windows would run smack with the 2022-2023 NCAA season so there's no way Edu would be available.

Maybe Edu isn't as good as Kai in offense, but defensively I think Edu is as good or even better than Kai. From what I saw some 4 years ago, Edu is a good shot blocker & rim protector. That is why I want to see how good Edu is as a perimeter defender. If he can defend those stretch-4's of say Korea, Lebanon, Japan, China. Does he have the mobility & laterals to do it?

I see Edu's length & athleticism are going to bother the shots & moves of opposing teams' "fours".

With Edu, Malonzo, Oftana, Dwight Ramos, Thirdy & Clarkson possibly making the World Cup roster, we could have the most athletic Philippine basketball team ever assembled.

The Edu that we saw is the perfect player to pair with Kai and JF. I hope he's still the same player. Heck a backup rotation of Geo and AJ isn't that bad.

Every loss seems like we lost to Indo even if we are playing better countris. I don't like Coach Chot drama on and off the court. But also are alot of fans.

I think there's no question that Edu is badly needed, specially if JF will be the other center and with a either Balti or Japeth as his backup, they should be fine.
