But if it's 2025 and the 2027 WC qualifiers, I guess that spot's Demisana 's to lose.
I'll wait and see on UP muna. We did play 6'4" Torculas and 6'6" Lucero at 3 in Filoil, when we had Carl, Malick, Lina, Catapusan, and Galinato.

Hope we use 6'5" Ashon Andrews, 6'6" Lowell Briones (another Gilas-eligible guy), and 6'6" Mark Belmonte in the same way (although he did show perimeter skill in the Pinoyliga and UCBL, and he was allowed to play like a wing).

Ateneo, yeah, developing versatile forwards. Hope Ballungay, Lazaro, and Bongo end up like better shooting versions of Navarro.

Oh nvm it's a PBA coach suggesting this, why even bother with pragmatism lmaooooo. Honest question, how tf do you guys cope with being Gilas fans? monitoring this shitshow makes me want to smoke one pack of cigarettes a day. Just an absolute disgrace that even guys like Nenad isn't willing to be a part of anymore.
CTC is now definitely a PBA tool,I don't like him HC either,he probably support a memo that anyone who wants to play for Gilas that are amateurs, should signed memorandum that they will play in the PBA a minimum of 4 years before playing overseas.

I do hope the U18/19 kids, as well as older amateurs, get their first call-up to the pool for the February 2024 window. We need to train and develop them for FIBA play and then establish chemistry with WC holdovers.

The 20 players that were called up for this past U18,should be formed again, even tho there's no other competition they should be sent to some minor tournaments to gain international exposure. When is the qualifier for the U23?

Noli Eala was appointed as PSC Chairman. Does he have any say in Philippine Baketball?
Well, Sec. 13 of RA 6847 says that the NSA's, one of which is SBP, are autonomous and have exclusive technical control over the promotion and development over the particular sport for which they are organized, subject to supervision by the PSC under Sec. 11 (j).

Just limited to a supervisory role, but they do have visitorial powers, which includes the power to regulate NSAs like SBP.

What does regulate mean? I don't think Noli has the power nor the appetite to replace Chot though.

I dunno, maybe just discipline the heads of the NSAs for any bullshit, like with the PATAFA.

                  • Im not really sure butting heads with SBP is something Eala can afford, sure he had the blessing of the president but to butt heads with MVP and ramon ang's cronies? Im not sure this is a fight he will win.

I think Kom. Noli was given the PSC Chair role, in order to continue the gains we had in the previous games. Thus, it will be incumbent upon him to sustain and improve
                      weight lifting
                      pole vault
                      gymnastics
                      ice skating

and the perennial favorites, the 3 Bs - boxing, bowling, and billiards.

Volleyball and Basketball will most likely take the back seat as these two are well funded privately.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. No one in the SBP wakes up one morning and say "I wanna rack up Ls and be the most hated person in the Philippines", they're good intentioned people who just fucking suck at their jobs and should be replaced. I hope Eala makes a positive impact though

While not too many people are pleased with Noli Eala, I think the man has a sincere heart in helping Philippine basketball. We have to remember that Eala was the one who modified the PBA calendar in the mid-2000's during his term as PBA Commissioner. Such modification was aimed to syncronize the PBA calendar with FIBA. That is why during the months of July, August, September, our PBA players were available for national team duties since it was PBA off season during that period. Imagine if the PBA continued what Eala has started in so far as PBA calendar is concerned. Available sana mga Gilas prospect PBA players natin during the months of July, Aug. & Sept.

Also under Commisioner Noli Eala, PBA season was reduced to only 2 conferences which for me made a lot lot more sense than a 3-conference PBA season.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Eala is a polarizing guy. He did some good things back in GILAS one though he did burned a lot of bridges. And of course he had some off the court scandal(s?). Well they could have had worse choices. At least this guys knows his basketball
