I hope Abadam, Demisana, Konov develop into that kind of mold as well. They might have potential for that.

I'd rather see a fighting PH team loss to Cambodia than win against Lebanon with Kouame playing as local
Just a question why would it be okay for someone who is 1/4th Filipino and doesn't speak tagalog, has never been developed by a Philippine Club, doesn't really understand PH culture be considered as a local? But then someone, who even thoguh has no filipino blood, but can speak tagalog, has filipino basketball heritage, born/raised in the Philippines, looks desperate.

It's really all arbitrary if you dig too deep into it so we just use colorism as a basis for citizenship, if you're less black in a predominantly black country, you're more foreigner and vice versa. It's sad and regressive but that's how the world works.

Ethnicity as basis of citizenship is really outdated. In other countries it is really residency and the ability to speak the native language.

              • Homer says that Cone told him that we have a chance to dominate Asia: https://twitter.com/HomerSayson/stat...gOgpAu1Lg&s=19

However, Cone also reportedly said that we need to add June Mar, Perez, Erram, and Almazan to that core.

No offense, Coach Tim, but are they really our best options for a core? June Mar, Erram, and Almazan turn 33 this year, and they'll most likely be good until 2025 at most, and there are better bigman options than Erram and Almazan, although Erram is useful.

Lol, the level of talent isn’t going to improve significantly adding any of those guys in.

Erram is useful for exactly 7 minutes before he commits his final flagrant 2. Almazan and Erram provides absolutely nothing that Balti and Tamayo won't do in spades. Oh nvm it's a PBA coach suggesting this, why even bother with pragmatism lmaooooo. Honest question, how tf do you guys cope with being Gilas fans? monitoring this shitshow makes me want to smoke one pack of cigarettes a day. Just an absolute disgrace that even guys like Nenad isn't willing to be a part of anymore.

Question about Balti, though. What player's gonna replicate his skillset (especially his defensive versatility) if ever he's consistently unavailable for call-ups? Might need to look for 6'7"-6'8" bigs with that skillset.

The U-18/19 kids would do, but if we're talking about 2023, i think no one can replicate the readiness that Balti can provide. Give those young standouts at least a year to develop (too bad they all can't be members of ADMU and UP), perhaps someone can get close. But if it's 2025 and the 2027 WC qualifiers, I guess that spot's Demisana 's to lose.

This is why Tab said we dont need a lot of bigs. He only needs Kouame and maybe Kai. The rest are not typical bigs. Balti is a stretch 4 who can switch in the perimeter. Carl is versatile on offense. Then you have other long switchable guys down the roster and only one sub 6 foot guy. You only need one center and a backup and the rest are long quick switchable guys.

any of the youngsters that hasn't developed bad pba tendencies yet, Gagate, Amos and Konov should be developed to his archetype at a way younger age. Honestly Balti is a new player archetype, he saved himself from peaking as a Rosario and Almazan 2.0 by moving overseas and away from the pba. Imo, pinoy coaches can't utilize B League players properly(except a proactive player like Dwight) because they seem to be developing differently. I predict Balti, Parks, Kiefer and the rest of the B League boys will be very very solid role players under proper guidance(FOREIGN COACH), the new KBL batch too like Abando, Navarro and possibly Tamayo. These guys need a non-local non-pba coach. PBA's losses to Indonesia and Japan(pba coached in the Japan game at least) shows the league's inability to transition from less midget guard hero ball game and adapt to modern basketball paradigms. To go back to your point, idt we'll see a proper or better Baltazar type player develop for a long time as long as the PBA controls and influence the NT from head to toe. Tab's program was really lightning in a bottle that SBP threw away. Balti was a year long project spanning multiple windows and even stints like the Abdullah Cup, Chot and the PBA only chooses players who are already bottled and ready for the pba, they will never ever develop a Baltazar, Ramos and Tamayo, their closest equivalent is Erram, Almazan/Rosario and CBC/Maliksi, complete duds in the international stage.

Good blueprint nga sana ang program ni Tab, e. It had disciplined defense as a foundation, then inserted a workable offensive system where almost everyone could be useful on offense. On top of that, developed Navarro into a wing defender for Gilas, and then Balti into a switchable combo forward. Carl developed into a tweener forward offensively as well (although Goldwin Monteverde helped kick start that in their NSNU days). Dwight also as a shooting guard and secondary ballhandler.

And then, composed of Ange as the anchor/rim protector, then you have Balti, Navarro, and Dwight as versatile defenders. Man, what a dream.

I'm just hoping that defense is a cornerstone for the program moving forward.
