I dont think Lucero is unlikely anymore since Newsome also only played 2 years in the UAAP. I would guess he would have to go to the PBA instead of Taiwan though but in the future FIBA eligibility opens Japan.

My concern with Koon is that he is almost a direct parallel to Navarro (i.e. same role, but Koon has better offense, while Navarro has better defense). He will not be utilized properly unless a Euroball coach handles the team.

Still hate that decision that he played in a "barangay league" under Pineda's payroll than playing in Gilas in 3rd window and in FIBA Asia cup.. I just thinking alibi lang talaga yung reason that he has to secure their visas to his family members going to Japan... He can secure family visas to his relatives or his agent in that case...If Malonzo, Oftana and Adams did great in next windows, Baltazar's WC spot is in danger since he hasn't played yet under Chot and you know Chot, He will pick those who already familiar with him already.... I'm really sure that Tamayo will have that 1 spot in forward position next year...
Delta has his own agenda, but i dont think he milks money off Balti.(or nagsusulit si Balti ng sweldo nya kay Delta). Maybe he uses Balti to gain favors from others, like MVP, or Dennis Uy

Balti has to make some tough decisions from now to next year,he should know that his Gilas appearance are what secured his overseas job, without even showing up in another window,he might not make the team next year.

But still, Heading was the exception. Honestly, even if both leagues don't improve our guys, I'd rather take them over the PBA just because of the availability, and it's not like the PBA has done a splendid job of developing FIBA-fit players recently anyway, other than what Yeng did for Oftana, and maybe Pido with Malonzo (yes, Malonzo played wing for Pido, whether as 3 or 4).
Very much agree with you, especially on the 1st part. Our B-league & KBL players may not be available in some window qualifiers but come the FIBA season - during the months of mid-June, July, August & September, these players would be available. That's becoz these pro leagues & perhaps almost all pro leagues in the world are synchronized with FIBA calendar. PBA lang naman ang premer pro league ng isang bansa na hindi synchronized with FIBA calendar.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

how is Gilas 1 a bad idea, when it was based upon the NCC model which was successful, and when we never saw its fruits when Chot pushed out Rajko after the 2011 loss? how good would Casio/Barroca/Tiu be in the FIBA setting if they continued? we never won the 2013 Fiba, we just qualified for 2014 World Cup.

Poaching?? the model was to make the players play in a FIBA environment, which is BLeague/NBL. when were the BLeague players not available these past few windows lol

For now I believe Balti just wanted to settle his family in JP. He is the only one of the B leaguers with his own family. He already said he is willing to play for PH. When is the next qualifier? Is B league in conflict with it?

They observe FIBA Breaks / Windows right?

BLeague will never be in conflict because it follows the FIBA windows = no games during this time. it's a matter of circumstance that players won't be available i.e. Kiefer's whole Shiga team was hit the virus, so it's prudent that he wont be available.

both Thirdy and Dwight were available. it's just that SBP wants players available more than the length of the windows as both Thirdy and Dwight missed games from their home teams (cramming or whatever).

the real conflict, or at least to SBP, is the insurance to be paid to release the players. all basketball federations deal with this issue, it's just that SBP is not used to it and my suspicion as one major issue (of course besides PBA crying foul, which has been well documented and talked about).

                      • Guys I think most of you already read this article but to those who haven’t, I will post the link below, hmm, I had a gut feeling that the S.E is are also a reader(?) here. I will post some very interesting things he mentioned..

ANALYSIS: SBP’s problem is way bigger than its coach

First, there’s the weakness of our national federations.

We look at the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas (SBP) and we see a federation with the financial might that is the envy of other national sports associations not named Philippine Football Federation (PFF).
The PFF is fortunate. Apart from the rich subsidies it gets from its international federation (Fifa), football president Mariano Araneta Jr. has one thing that all other national federation heads would die to have: A greater control of his sport.
“Everything starts with Fifa,” Araneta told the Inquirer. “Their management of the sport and the way they take care of the national federations, big or small, is really topnotch. We are following the Fifa’s lead here.”

He has a point: Even the most moneyed and powerful European clubs bow to Fifa.

His first game in JP is Oct 1 IRC. As in previous qualifiers they might have a break covering Nov 10 and Nov 13? So no problem then? I think the longer practice can be arranged as well as insurance. They did afford JC and Kai for this window

yup FIBA is wannabe FIFA but not anywhere close to the power of FIFA. Top level basketball revolves around the NBA not FIBA.

No wonder despite it's history of dirty linens on some of it's previous(?) and current officials(?) the way FIFA is doing it's managing stuff is really worth emulating minus those stinks...Look at Boss Nonong face nowadays despite some usual pressure you will notice in PFF office parang less toxic sa work area nila eh.

I think if FIBA tries to go at the NBA then theyll take a massive L. NBA is really powerful plus really well funded.
