Yeah, guys like Dwight, Carl, Balti, Navarro, Heading are great fits for the FIBA game. Even Thirdy. Oftana, though a PBA player, was also a part of that program. Man, people can't appreciate much the value of being made for FIBA, e, instead of just for local basketball. Good grief.

What's more troubling is that ordinary people has better foresight than these basketball "leaders". WTF had they been smoking? Are they really that ignorant?

im pretty sure they see more than us. they have their reasons to do something else. we obviously dont agree, but they are in power so.....

Not only that but those guys are tailor made for FIBA. That's why they were included in the pool in the first place. They're built different and played differently thanm the other local guys. It took years for Tab and co to mold them and prepare them. SMH

I hope these guys improve more on their games abroad (Carl is due for an overseas contract in a year or two, he's gotta be) to point that it would really be hard for SBP/PBA to pass up on them for Gilas duties. Same with our KBL boys. It would be a shame to waste their primes not being called up for international duties because of PBA's kapritso on draft dodgers.

Marcial said one of the roles of the San Miguel sports director and Barangay Ginebra team governor is his involvement in the formation of Gilas Pilipinas in the lead-up to the 2023 Fiba Basketball World Cup.

“Malaking tulong. Malaking role niya sa SBP. Kakausapin niya mga players kung ano ang magagawa, kung ano mga plano, ‘yung practice, gusto na nga niya ‘yung practice every Monday eh. Pag-uusapan pa rin kung papaano,” said Marcial.

Marcial added Chua’s role will not in any way intervene with Chot Reyes’ job as head coach and program director of Gilas Pilipinas.

“Advisor lang naman. Ang masusunod pa rin naman (si coach Chot). Magbibigay siya ng advice. Sa tingin ko hindi naman magkaka-problema,” said Marcial.
Marcial said Chua is also expected to be given the green light by San Miguel chief Ramon Ang since his new responsibilities are for flag and country.

They are so useless, they need to appoint AlFrancis Chua as executive advisor. Goes to show you they need somebody from the other side of the camp to promote unity when in fact, SBP's one objective in the fist place, is to bring all stakeholders together. That EA position is not needed if they've done what they were mandated to do.

I want coaches like Goldwin (as a defensive coordinator) and Charles Tiu to help in coaching, but I'd like them to learn under a Nenad or a Tab first, just to get them fit to coach internationally.

Cone is untested internationally. SEA games with the full backing of the PBA against pre DMX Indonesia doesn't count. Heck YG has more international games under his belt than Cone.
